Fits V Tech CS6128 and CS6129 cordless phone handsets, replacing OEM battery CS-BPT50CL for full wireless operation.
2.4V, 1200mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers rated talk and standby time on DECT base station pairing.
Connector slides vertically into handset battery compartment with single locking tab on left side.
We bench-tested this cell on a CS6128 base—BMS accepted voltage immediately, no fault light during charge cycle.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use—NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

V Tech CS6128 / CS6129 — 2.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This 2.4V 1200mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the original handset battery in the V Tech CS6128 and CS6129 cordless phone systems. It slots into the handset battery compartment and restores wireless operation when the original cell no longer holds a usable charge. Dimensions are 50.36 × 28.11 × 14.33mm — confirm against your existing pack before ordering.

  • CS6128 and CS6129 compatibility: Both models run the same 2.4V two-cell NiMH pack on a shared handset platform. Voltage rail, connector pinout, and compartment dimensions are identical across this pair, so one replacement covers both.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the CS6128 handset. The base station accepted the battery without error and the BMS reached full charge termination cleanly on each cycle.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it untouched for a full 16 hours before the first call. NiMH cells ship partially discharged — skipping this slow initial charge limits capacity and the battery will never reach its rated 1200mAh.

Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement

NiMH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity — this is normal chemistry, not a fault. A fresh pack pulled from storage has a depressed charge ceiling that lifts gradually with each full cycle. Run the handset until the low-battery tone sounds, then return it to the base for a full charge. By cycle five, capacity should be at or near the rated 1200mAh.

Base station charge light not activating after battery swap

NiMH packs discharged below roughly 0.9V per cell during storage can fall outside the voltage window the base uses to detect a valid battery. The base charges only when it sees a minimum input voltage — if the pack is too flat, charging never starts. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, then reseat it firmly. If the light still does not activate, use a compatible external NiMH charger to bring the pack above 2.0V total, then return it to the base cradle.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the CS6128 handset lose range within a few seconds of moving away from the base after fitting the new battery?

Range drop under RF load is a voltage sag issue. NiMH cells early in their cycle life cannot sustain the current the handset draws during transmission, so voltage dips and the radio backs off power. This clears after three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cells build capacity. Run the handset to low battery, charge fully in the base, and repeat — range stabilises once the pack is conditioned.

The CS6128 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT cordless phones drop their pairing data when power is completely removed from the handset. The fix is a manual re-registration. Press and hold the registration button on the base unit until the indicator flashes, then initiate a handset search from the handset menu. Consult the CS6128 user guide for the exact key sequence — the full pairing process takes under two minutes.

The new battery drains completely overnight even though the handset is sitting in the base — what is wrong?

If the handset is not fully seated, the charging contacts do not make reliable contact and the base stops topping up the pack. Standby draw then slowly pulls the battery flat by morning. Remove the handset, check that nothing is blocking the contacts on either the handset or the cradle, and reseat it until you hear or feel it click into position. Check that the charge indicator light activates immediately after reseating.
