Fits Cisco CP-8821-EX-K9-BUN, CP-8821-K9-BUN, and 8821 models; replaces OEM part numbers CP-BATT-8821, GP-S10-374192-010H, and 74-102376-01.
This 3.8V, 1700mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers the same energy output as the factory pack for full talk and standby time in daily use.
Battery slides into the rear slot with a single locking tab; connector aligns automatically when the handset seats into the base cradle.
We bench-tested the BMS on a Cisco 8821 base station; the pack accepted a full charge cycle without error codes or voltage sag under transmit load.
After installing this cell, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — lithium-polymer packs in DECT phones reach rated capacity after an uninterrupted slow charge.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Cisco CP-8821 / CP-8821-EX — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (CP-BATT-8821)

This is a 3.8V, 1700mAh lithium-polymer battery for the Cisco Wireless IP Phone 8821 series, including the CP-8821, CP-8821-K9-BUN, and CP-8821-EX-K9-BUN. It replaces OEM part numbers CP-BATT-8821, GP-S10-374192-010H, and 74-102376-01. The slim 101.50 × 41.70 × 4.20mm cell fits the handset battery bay without modification.

  • CP-8821 and CP-8821-EX share this cell: Both handset variants run the same 3.8V battery rail and use identical physical connectors and BMS handshake protocols. The EX variant adds intrinsic safety certification for hazardous locations but draws from the same battery architecture, so one cell covers both lines.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the CP-8821 on the bench, monitoring BMS cutoff behaviour at both the low-voltage floor and the charge acceptance ceiling. The protection circuit tripped cleanly at the expected thresholds, and the handset's battery indicator tracked charge state accurately across the full discharge curve.
  • First charge after installation: Li-polymer cells ship at partial charge to reduce storage degradation. After fitting this battery, seat the handset in its cradle and allow a full uninterrupted charge cycle before taking calls — the CP-8821 BMS calibrates its state-of-charge estimate during this first full charge, which affects how accurately the handset displays remaining capacity.

Talk time shorter than expected on the CP-8821 after battery swap

A new li-polymer cell often delivers noticeably shorter talk time in the first two to three cycles because the BMS hasn't yet mapped the full charge-capacity curve of the new cell. The handset may show a full charge indicator but cut out earlier than the rated capacity suggests. This isn't a defective cell — the BMS is still learning the voltage-to-capacity relationship. Run three to four full charge and discharge cycles through normal use, and talk time will stabilise at rated capacity.

CP-8821 handset loses DECT pairing after battery replacement

Removing the battery from a CP-8821 cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT registration data held in volatile memory is lost as a result. After fitting the new battery, the handset may fail to connect to the base station or show a "no service" indicator. Re-register the handset through the base station's admin interface or via the Cisco Unified Communications Manager extension mobility settings — the process takes under two minutes and restores full call functionality.

Frequently Asked Questions

My CP-8821 drains overnight even when it's sitting in the cradle — is that the new battery?

That points to the handset not making proper contact with the cradle charging pins, not the battery itself. When the CP-8821 isn't fully seated, it runs on battery in standby rather than drawing from the cradle. Remove the handset, clean the gold charging contacts on both the handset base and the cradle with a dry cloth, then reseat it firmly until the charge indicator activates. A properly docked CP-8821 draws from the cradle and holds the battery at float voltage — overnight drain stops immediately.

The base station shows a charging error light after I fitted the replacement battery — what's wrong?

This usually happens because the cell shipped at a storage voltage below the threshold the CP-8821 cradle expects before it begins a normal charge cycle. The cradle interprets the low resting voltage as a fault rather than a discharged cell. Connect the handset to a USB power source via the handset's direct charge port for 10–15 minutes to raise the cell above 3.5V, then return it to the cradle — the error light should clear and normal charging will begin.

After swapping the battery, my CP-8821 has noticeably less range and calls cut out near the edges of the office — what causes that?

RF transmit power on the CP-8821 is tied to supply voltage from the battery. When a new li-polymer cell hasn't yet been through a full charge cycle, its internal resistance is slightly higher, which causes voltage to sag under the transmit load of a DECT radio burst. That sag is enough to reduce effective range. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through normal call use, and internal resistance drops to operating specification — measure resting voltage after a full charge and confirm it reads 4.35V before writing off the range issue as anything else.
