Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

ZTE WP650 / WP850 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (Ni3607T30P3S473211)
This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the ZTE WP650 and WP850 cordless phone handsets. It replaces OEM part Ni3607T30P3S473211 directly. The battery sits inside the handset and powers both the DECT radio and the speaker circuit.
- WP650 and WP850 compatibility: Both handsets run off the same 3.6V Ni-MH cell with an identical connector and footprint. The BMS on each base station accepts the same charge termination voltage, so one part number covers both models.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the WP650 base station and confirmed the charge circuit recognised the pack, reached delta-V cutoff correctly, and held resting voltage at 3.9V after a full charge.
- First charge on a NiMH cordless handset: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before taking your first call. NiMH cells ship partially discharged and need a slow first charge to reach the 700mAh rated capacity — cutting it short locks in a lower ceiling from the start.
Base station showing no charge light after fitting a new NiMH pack
NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the pack drops below roughly 3.0V, some base stations refuse to initiate a charge cycle because the voltage sits outside the expected acceptance window. The base interprets a deeply discharged cell the same way it would a shorted or missing pack. To recover it, hold the handset firmly in the cradle for 10–15 minutes — most ZTE bases will attempt a trickle pre-charge at low current before switching to full charge once the cell reads above the threshold. If the light still does not activate, check the cradle contacts with a dry cloth and reseat the handset.
Talk time shorter than the original battery after replacement
This is expected behaviour with fresh NiMH cells and is not a fault. NiMH chemistry takes three to five full charge-and-use cycles before the cell reaches rated capacity. On the first cycle, you may see noticeably shorter talk sessions. Each subsequent full cycle conditions the cell further. After five complete cycles — full charge, then use until the handset gives a low-battery warning — capacity should stabilise at or close to the rated 700mAh. Do not judge the battery until cycle three at the earliest.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ZTE WP650 base keeps showing an error light after I put in the new battery — what's wrong?
The most likely cause is that the replacement cell arrived below the voltage threshold the base station needs to start a normal charge cycle. Seat the handset firmly in the cradle and wait 15 minutes — the base should begin a low-current pre-charge trickle to bring the cell up past the acceptance threshold. While you wait, wipe the gold cradle contacts with a dry cloth to rule out a connection issue. If the error clears and charging begins, leave it on the base for a full 16 hours before use.
My WP650 handset loses range or starts breaking up partway through a call — could the battery cause this?
Yes. When a NiMH cell is low or not yet fully conditioned, its voltage sags under the RF transmit load the DECT radio draws during a call. The handset's transmit power drops with the voltage, which shortens usable range before a low-battery warning even appears. Run three to five full charge-and-use cycles to condition the cell to its rated 700mAh — voltage sag under RF load reduces significantly once the pack is properly cycled. If breakup still happens after five cycles, check that the base station antenna is unobstructed.
My WP850 handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix this?
Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some DECT phones clear their pairing registration when power is fully lost. This is a firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset through your base station's handset registration menu — on most ZTE bases, hold the registration button on the base for three seconds until the light flashes, then navigate to the handset's "Register Handset" option within 60 seconds. Once paired, place the handset back on the base for a full charge.
