Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hagenuk WP 300X / SL30080 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (BT-589)

This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Hagenuk WP 300X and SL30080 cordless handsets. It slots directly into the handset battery compartment and connects to the same three-pin contact used by the original BT-589 pack. When the original cell loses the ability to hold a charge, this unit restores full talk and standby performance.

  • WP 300X and SL30080 compatibility: Both models share the BT-589 form factor — same cell count, same 3.6V rail, and the same physical footprint of 45.61 × 31.49 × 10.84mm. One battery fits both handsets without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on a Ni-MH test rig. The BMS accepted charge from a standard DECT base station without trip or error, and voltage held steady across the full discharge curve.
  • First-charge conditioning on Ni-MH handsets: After fitting the new pack, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before making a call. Ni-MH cells in DECT handsets need a slow, uninterrupted initial charge to reach rated capacity — shorter first charges leave usable capacity on the table for the first several cycles.

Why the WP 300X shows shorter talk time for the first few cycles on a new Ni-MH pack

Ni-MH cells ship partially discharged and take three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. On cycle one, the WP 300X may show noticeably shorter talk time — this is not a fault with the battery or the base station. Each subsequent full cycle brings the cells closer to their 700mAh rating. Run the handset until it signals low battery, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat until talk time stabilises.

Base station charge light stays off or shows an error after fitting the new pack

A new Ni-MH pack sitting in storage can drop below the voltage threshold the DECT base expects before it begins a charge cycle. If the base shows no charge indication or an error light, remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and re-seat it firmly so all three contacts engage. If the base still does not begin charging, check the handset contacts are clean and unobstructed — a thin film of oxidation on either side is enough to break the circuit. The base should begin the charge cycle once the cell voltage reads above approximately 3.0V at the contact point.

Frequently Asked Questions

My WP 300X talk time is still short after a week — is the new BT-589 battery faulty?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH cells need three to five complete charge-discharge cycles before they deliver rated capacity. Run the handset until it signals low battery each time, then return it to the base for a full charge — do not top it up from partial. By cycle four or five, talk time should reach its normal level.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I fix it?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when the handset loses power completely during a battery swap. The fix is to re-register the handset through the base station's pairing mode. On most Hagenuk bases, hold the register button on the base for three seconds, then follow the handset menu to locate and register the base — the exact steps are in the handset manual under "registration" or "pairing."

The WP 300X battery drains overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what is causing this?

If the handset is not fully seated, the charge contacts do not connect and the handset runs on its own battery in standby all night. Press the handset firmly into the base cradle until it clicks into position and confirm the charge indicator light activates. If the light still does not appear, clean the handset and base contacts with a dry cloth and re-seat — standby draw on a disconnected Ni-MH pack will fully discharge it within 24 to 48 hours.
