Fits Polycom PTB500, PTB610, PTS330, SKPT410 cordless handsets — direct replacement for OEM Ni-MH packs.
4.8V, 700mAh Ni-MH chemistry delivers standard talk and standby performance for DECT base-pairing phones.
Battery slides into handset grip with keyed connector — orientation marked on pack, no force needed on insert.
We bench-tested this cell in a PTB500 handset against a base station — BMS accepted charge at 4.8V threshold, no fault codes.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless batteries require slow charging to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Polycom PTB500 / PTB610 / PTS330 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 4.8V, 700mAh nickel-metal hydride battery for Polycom DECT cordless handsets. It fits the PTB500, PTB610, PTS330, SKPT410, and more than ten additional models in this range. Same voltage, same connector, same physical footprint as the original pack.

  • PTB500 / PTB610 / PTS330 series fit: These handsets share a common 4.8V NiMH cell configuration, identical connector orientation, and matching BMS communication protocol — so one pack covers the full lineup without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a PTB500 handset. The base station accepted charge immediately, the BMS reported correct voltage at each stage, and the handset showed full signal bars throughout.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. NiMH cells ship partially discharged and need a slow, uninterrupted initial charge to reach rated capacity — a shorter first charge will leave you with noticeably less talk time from day one.

Range drops after battery swap on DECT handsets

DECT transmitters draw a short burst of current every time the handset communicates with the base. A freshly installed NiMH battery that hasn't completed its first conditioning cycle has higher internal resistance than a fully cycled pack. That resistance causes voltage to sag under RF transmit load, which the handset interprets as a weak signal — so it reduces transmit power. Run three to five full charge and discharge cycles and the internal resistance drops to spec, restoring full range.

Base station shows no charge or error light after fitting new battery

NiMH batteries lose voltage during storage. If the pack sits long enough, its resting voltage can fall below the threshold the base station uses to confirm a valid battery is seated. The charger sees a voltage it doesn't recognise and refuses to initiate a charge cycle. Remove the handset, wait ten seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the charge controller. If the error persists, check that the handset contacts are clean and making solid contact with the base cradle pins.

Frequently Asked Questions

My PTB500 talk time is much shorter than it was with the original battery — is the new pack faulty?

Almost certainly not. NiMH cells need three to five full charge and discharge cycles before they reach rated capacity — the first cycle typically delivers noticeably less than the second, and the second less than the third. Let the handset fully discharge until it beeps, then return it to the base for a complete 16-hour charge. Repeat that process four times and talk time should stabilise at the rated level.

The handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Some DECT phones drop their pairing data when the handset loses power completely, which happens the moment you pull the battery. The handset and base need to re-register. On the PTB500, hold the paging button on the base until the LED flashes, then press and hold the call button on the handset for three seconds — the handset will search for and lock to the base. Consult your PTB500 manual for the exact key sequence if that differs on your firmware version.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's causing that?

This is a seating issue, not a battery fault. The base only charges when all three contacts on the handset bottom make firm, simultaneous contact with the cradle pins. A worn cradle, debris on the contacts, or a slightly off-angle handset placement breaks the circuit — the handset runs on battery the entire time rather than drawing from the base. Clean both contact sets with a dry cloth, check the cradle for visible wear, and confirm the handset clicks fully into place before leaving it overnight.
