Fits Pandigital Novel 9 e-reader, replacing OEM battery part BP-PO2-11/3400CL.
Delivers 3.7V at 3000mAh capacity; sustains full page-turn responsiveness and WiFi sync across extended reading sessions.
Connector seats into the internal slot with positive terminal first; locking tab clicks when fully seated.
We bench-tested the BMS on a Novel 9 unit; cell accepted charge without fault codes and delivered stable voltage under page-turn loads.
After installing, charge via USB for a complete cycle before reading—the e-reader firmware recalibrates battery percentage display when it detects a new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Pandigital Novel 9 / Supernova DLX 8 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BP-PO2-11/3400CL)

This 3.7V, 3000mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Pandigital Novel 9 (R90L200) and Supernova DLX 8 e-readers. It matches the OEM dimensions at 101.60 x 66.70 x 4.20mm, so it seats flat inside the chassis without lifting the back cover. Swap this in when the original no longer holds a charge or the device shuts off mid-session.

  • Novel 9 and Supernova DLX 8 compatibility: Both devices share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail, which is why one cell covers the full model range. The BMS communicates charge state to the same firmware stack across R90L200 and DLX 8 variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Novel 9 platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, charge termination triggered correctly at 4.2V, and the firmware reported accurate state-of-charge throughout.
  • Post-swap charging tip for e-reader firmware: After installation, connect via USB and charge through one complete cycle before use. The Novel 9 firmware recalibrates its battery percentage display against a full charge cycle — skipping this step causes the indicator to read inaccurately from the first boot.

Why the Novel 9 shows low battery immediately after a new cell is installed

Replacement cells ship at storage voltage, typically 3.6–3.8V, not at full charge. The Novel 9 firmware reads this as a partially depleted battery and flags it immediately on the status bar. This is not a fault with the cell — it is the firmware comparing the resting voltage against its calibration table. Connect the charger before the first boot and allow the cell to reach 4.2V before powering on.

Page turn response slows down before the battery indicator shows critical

The e-ink display on the Novel 9 draws a short high-current pulse to refresh each page. As cell voltage drops below roughly 3.5V, that pulse takes longer to complete, which adds a visible lag to every page turn. The battery percentage indicator often still reads 15–20% at this point because the firmware's voltage-to-percentage curve is not linear at the low end. If response feels sluggish, check actual resting voltage with a multimeter — anything below 3.5V means the cell needs a charge cycle, regardless of what the screen shows.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pandigital Novel 9 won't turn on at all after I put the new battery in — did I get a dead cell?

Almost certainly not. Replacement cells ship at storage voltage and can sit below the minimum boot threshold the Novel 9 firmware requires to start. Connect the USB charger and leave it for at least 10 minutes before pressing power — the device will not boot from a resting voltage below approximately 3.4V. Once the charger brings the cell up past that threshold, the device should power on normally.

The battery percentage on my Novel 9 jumps around after the swap — goes from 80% to 40% and back while reading.

This is the firmware recalibrating its discharge curve against the new cell. The original calibration table was built around the old cell's worn characteristics, so readings are erratic until the firmware learns the new cell's voltage profile. Run two or three full charge-and-discharge cycles — charge to 4.2V, read until the low battery warning, then recharge — and the percentage display will stabilise.

WiFi sync is draining this battery much faster than just reading does — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong. WiFi draw on the Novel 9 is significantly higher than the e-ink display current alone — the radio pulls several times more power than a static page render. This is normal behaviour for the hardware, not a cell defect. Turn WiFi off after syncing and use it in reading-only mode; the battery level will drop at the rate you'd expect from an e-reader rather than a connected device.
