This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-CD replacement battery for the Lithonia ELB 1444N emergency lighting unit. It slots into the fitting to restore backup illumination during mains failure. Capacity is 4000mAh (57.6Wh), matching the original cell specification.
- ELB 1444N compatibility: The ELB 1444N charge controller expects a specific Ni-CD cell voltage curve and a 14.4V nominal pack to complete its float charge handshake. Swapping chemistry or voltage breaks that cycle and trips a permanent fault LED.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement
A fresh Ni-CD cell does not deliver rated capacity on the first discharge. The cell chemistry requires at least one full charge-discharge cycle before it reaches the 4000mAh figure.
