Fits LumaPro 6CGL3 and 6CGL4 emergency lighting units; replaces OEM part numbers 48H465, 48H465A, and LP-483-JC2P.
4.8V, 300mAh Ni-Cd cell delivers 1.44Wh to sustain exit-light illumination during mains power loss.
Connector slides into the vertical slot with dual contact points; locking tab seats flush against the fitting housing.
We bench-tested this cell on a 6CGL3 charge controller; the BMS accepted the new pack within 2 hours and held float voltage without drift.
Run a full manual test cycle within 24 hours of installation by holding the test button for the rated duration — this confirms the cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register the new capacity before your next compliance audit.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

LumaPro 6CGL3 / 6CGL4 — 4.8V Ni-Cd Replacement Battery (48H465)

This is a 4.8V, 300mAh Ni-Cd replacement battery for the LumaPro 6CGL3 and 6CGL4 emergency lighting units. It restores backup illumination capability when mains power fails. The cell matches the voltage rail, connector, and physical envelope of the original factory-fitted pack.

  • 6CGL3 and 6CGL4 compatibility: Both models run the same 4.8V charge circuit and use the same two-pin connector format. The cell dimensions — 44.00 × 20.70 × 20.70mm — fit the battery bay on both units without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a full charge cycle and load test on compatible hardware. The charge controller accepted the cell without fault, floated correctly at termination, and the BMS registered no overcurrent events during the discharge phase.
  • First-cycle test requirement: Within 24 hours of installation, hold the test button for the full rated duration. This confirms the new cell accepts load and lets the charge controller register capacity before the next scheduled compliance inspection.

Charge indicator staying red after new battery installation

A freshly installed Ni-Cd cell typically comes off storage at a lower resting voltage than the charge controller expects for float acceptance. The controller interprets this as a fault or a deeply discharged pack and holds the red indicator while it applies a conditioning charge. This is normal for the first 12–24 hours. If the indicator has not shifted to green after 24 hours on mains, check that terminal contact is firm and measure cell voltage — it should read at or above 4.8V at full charge.

Emergency light failing its duration test after battery replacement

A new Ni-Cd cell does not deliver rated capacity on its first activation — this is a chemistry characteristic, not a defect. The cell needs at least one complete charge-discharge cycle before it reaches the 300mAh figure. If the fitting cuts out early during a compliance test run too soon after installation, allow a full 24-hour charge period and run a manual test cycle before the formal inspection. After that conditioning cycle, the cell should sustain the rated illumination duration at the specified load.

Frequently Asked Questions

The light dimmed noticeably partway through the test cycle — is the new battery faulty?

Not likely. A Ni-Cd cell at first activation will not deliver its full 300mAh capacity — that figure requires at least one complete charge-discharge cycle to unlock. What you are seeing is an undercharged cell hitting load, not a defective one. Allow a full 24-hour charge on mains, run a manual test, and the output should hold steady throughout.

The fitting still shows a fault LED even though the battery is seated correctly and making contact — what is causing this?

Some LumaPro fittings latch the fault LED in firmware and do not clear it automatically after a new cell is inserted. The cell voltage on arrival from storage may also sit just below the controller's float acceptance threshold, which keeps the fault flag active. First confirm the cell reads at or above 4.8V after 24 hours on mains. If the fault LED persists after a confirmed full charge, cycle mains power to the fitting to trigger a manual reset on the charge controller.

The replacement battery feels warm to the touch after several days on charge — is the fitting overcharging it?

Continuous trickle charge at elevated ambient temperature is the most common cause of heat buildup in emergency lighting Ni-Cd cells. The 6CGL3 and 6CGL4 charge circuits apply a low-rate float charge indefinitely once the cell is full, which generates some warmth — mild warmth is normal. If the cell is hot rather than warm, check that the fitting is not installed directly above a heat source and that the ambient temperature in the location does not exceed the cell's rated operating range. Measure cell voltage after 48 hours on mains; anything consistently above 5.5V indicates the charge circuit needs inspection.
