Fits the Bluetooth BT74R and BT77 GPS receivers, replacing OEM part HXE-W01.
This 3.7V 1000mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the capacity for full GPS acquisition and navigation cycles.
Connector slides straight in with no locking tab — push until it seats flush with the battery door.
We bench-tested this cell in a BT74R unit; the BMS accepted full charge within two hours with no fault codes.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — cold start after power interruption requires 5–10 minutes for first fix.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bluetooth BT74R / BT77 GPS Receiver — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HXE-W01)

This 3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion cell replaces part number HXE-W01 in the Bluetooth BT74R and BT77 GPS receivers. Both are compact portable GPS units used for outdoor navigation and field surveying. The cell powers the receiver's GPS module, wireless stack, and onboard memory during active use and standby.

  • BT74R and BT77 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail. The BMS on each unit reads the same charge termination voltage, so one cell works across both without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the BT74R. The BMS accepted charge without fault flags, and the voltage held within spec across the discharge curve at GPS-active load.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after fitting: After fitting this cell and powering on, take the unit outdoors immediately. A full power interruption triggers a cold start — the receiver must re-download almanac data, which can take 5 to 10 minutes for first fix. Subsequent warm starts drop back under a minute once the almanac is cached.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the BT74R

When cell voltage falls below roughly 3.5V, some GPS receivers step down receiver sensitivity to reduce current draw. On the BT74R, this shows up as position drift or reduced fix accuracy before the low-battery indicator even triggers. The GPS module draws more current than the display, so the voltage sag at the receiver is larger than the system voltage reading suggests. Keeping the cell above 3.6V during active navigation maintains full receiver sensitivity.

BT74R shutting off without warning during navigation

This happens when the fuel gauge calibration drifts after the original cell has been replaced. The device reads more remaining charge than the cell actually holds, so the low-battery warning and the cutoff threshold hit almost simultaneously. The BMS hard-cuts the circuit at around 3.0V to protect the cell. Run one full discharge to cutoff and a complete recharge after fitting — this re-anchors the gauge to the new cell's actual capacity endpoints.

Frequently Asked Questions

My BT74R lost all saved routes after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. The BT74R stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM. When the cell is fully removed, that volatile memory loses power and the data clears. Settings stored in flash memory survive the swap, but active routes and unsaved waypoints do not. Export routes to a connected device or the unit's internal flash before removing the battery.

The GPS took nearly 10 minutes to find satellites after fitting the new cell — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Cutting all power to the receiver clears the almanac and ephemeris data the GPS uses to locate satellites quickly. Without that data, the unit runs a cold start and must re-download orbital information from scratch, which takes 5 to 10 minutes with a clear sky view. Once the almanac is cached, subsequent power cycles return to a warm start fix in under a minute.

The BT74R battery seems to drain noticeably faster during active turn-by-turn navigation than when I just leave it on standby — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, map rendering, and display simultaneously at full load. The GPS module alone draws several times more current than standby mode, and display brightness multiplies that draw further. Dropping screen brightness one or two levels reduces total current draw enough to extend active navigation meaningfully. If drain still seems abnormal, check that the backlight timeout is not set to always-on.
