Fits Royaltek HEW-R02-1 GPS navigator; replaces OEM part numbers HEW-R02-1 and HXE-R02(L).
3.7V, 1000mAh lithium-ion cell restores full navigation capacity on handheld GPS units.
Connector type matches original; 52.96 x 33.64 x 5.15mm form factor seats flush in device slot.
We bench-tested the cell on a Royaltek platform; BMS accepted charge at standard rate with no early cutoff or fault codes.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation—cold start after power loss takes 5–10 minutes for first lock.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Royaltek HEW-R02-1 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HEW-R02-1)

This 3.7V, 1000mAh lithium-ion cell replaces the internal battery in Royaltek GPS navigators including the HEW-R02-1, RBT-1000, RBT-1100, and RBT-2000. It matches the original cell's footprint at 52.96 × 33.64 × 5.15mm and uses the same connector pinout. Fit it when the original cell no longer holds a charge through a full navigation session.

  • RBT and HEW series compatibility: These models share a common 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same BMS handshake protocol and physical connector. Swapping across this family works because the charge termination voltage and protection circuit thresholds are identical across the lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a Royaltek GPS unit. The BMS accepted charge without fault flags, hit full termination voltage at 4.2V, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage cutoff threshold — no manual reset required.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the GPS on outdoors before driving. The unit loses its satellite almanac data on full power removal and needs a cold start — allow 5–10 minutes for first fix in open sky. Subsequent power cycles will lock on in under a minute.

GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on Royaltek navigators

Some Royaltek units reduce RF receiver sensitivity when cell voltage falls below roughly 3.5V — a power-saving measure built into the GPS chipset firmware. At reduced sensitivity, the receiver drops weaker satellite signals, which widens the position error circle. This shows up as the map position lagging or jumping on narrow roads. Keeping the cell above 3.6V under load maintains full receiver gain and normal fix accuracy.

Device shuts off without warning before the low-battery indicator appears

The on-screen battery indicator on these Royaltek units is calibrated to the original cell's voltage curve. A new cell — or a degraded original — can have a slightly different discharge curve, so the indicator reads one bar remaining while the actual cell voltage is already near the BMS cutoff. The BMS cuts power at approximately 3.0V to protect the cell, which looks like a sudden shutdown. After fitting this replacement, run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles so the device firmware recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Royaltek GPS lost all my saved routes and POIs after I swapped the battery — is that normal?

Yes. These Royaltek units store route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal clears that memory. The data is gone — it is not recoverable from the new cell. Going forward, export your routes to the device's internal flash or an SD card before removing the battery so the data survives a swap.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes after the battery replacement — it used to lock in seconds.

Full power removal wipes the satellite almanac stored in the GPS receiver's RAM. Without that almanac, the unit runs a cold start and has to download fresh ephemeris data from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes in open sky. This is a one-time event. Once the almanac rebuilds, subsequent power cycles will lock on in under a minute as long as the cell stays above 3.0V between uses.

The Royaltek RBT-1000 drains noticeably faster when actively navigating versus sitting on my desk — what is pulling the extra power?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, backlit display, and map-rendering processor simultaneously. The receiver alone draws significantly more current tracking multiple satellites than it does in standby. At full display brightness with live routing active, current draw can be three to four times the standby figure. Reducing screen brightness one or two steps is the single most effective way to extend time between charges during long drives.
