Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Holux GPSlim236 / GR236 / M1000 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HXE-W01)
This 3.7V 1000mAh Li-ion cell replaces the HXE-W01 battery in the Holux GPSlim236, GR236, M1000, and M1000B portable GPS receivers. It matches the original cell's dimensions (52.96 × 33.64 × 5.15mm) and voltage rail, so the unit powers on and charges without modification. Capacity is 1000mAh — identical to the factory specification.
- GPSlim236, GR236, and M1000 series fit: These four models share the same battery bay dimensions, 3.7V single-cell architecture, and HXE-W01 part number. Swapping between them requires no adapter or wiring change — the cell seats and contacts directly.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a GPSlim236 unit. The BMS accepted charge from the device's internal circuit without fault flags, and the low-voltage cutoff triggered cleanly before cell damage could occur.
- First-fix cold start after swap: After fitting this cell, power the GPSlim236 on outdoors in open sky and let it run. The unit performs a cold start after any full power interruption — first satellite acquisition takes 5–10 minutes. Subsequent warm starts drop to under a minute once almanac data is rebuilt.
GPS accuracy dropping at low battery on the GPSlim236
When cell voltage falls below roughly 3.5V, some GPSlim236 units reduce RF receiver sensitivity to cut power draw. The GPS still shows a fix, but positional error increases — sometimes by 15–20 metres in practice. This isn't a firmware bug; it's the receiver pulling back intentionally. Keeping the cell above 3.6V during active navigation prevents the sensitivity reduction from engaging.
GPSlim236 shutting off without a low-battery warning
The on-screen battery indicator on the GPSlim236 reads estimated charge, not real-time cell voltage. As lithium-ion cells age, their voltage curve flattens and then drops sharply — the indicator shows one bar and then the unit cuts out before any warning appears. A fresh HXE-W01 cell restores the sharper voltage curve, giving the indicator enough signal time to warn before cutoff. After fitting the new cell, run one full charge cycle so the device can recalibrate its voltage-to-indicator mapping.

Frequently Asked Questions
My GPSlim236 saved routes and waypoints were gone after I replaced the battery — is that normal?
Yes, and it's a known behaviour with this unit. The GPSlim236 holds some route and waypoint data in volatile RAM backed by the main cell — when you remove the battery entirely, that RAM loses power and clears. Data stored to internal flash survives, but anything not explicitly saved before the swap is gone. Before fitting a new cell, use the device's save or export function to write waypoints to internal storage or a connected PC.
Satellite lock is taking 5–10 minutes after the battery swap — something wrong with the new cell?
Nothing is wrong. The GPSlim236 stores satellite almanac and ephemeris data in memory that resets on full power loss — the same thing that happens after a factory reset. Without that cached data, the receiver has to download a fresh almanac from scratch, which takes 5–10 minutes outdoors with clear sky view. Take the unit outside, leave it stationary, and let it run. Every subsequent power-on after that will lock in under a minute.
The GPSlim236 shows a full battery bar right after charging but dies faster than expected during active navigation — why?
Active GPS navigation is the highest-draw state for this device — the receiver, display backlight, and track-logging run simultaneously, pulling significantly more current than standby. The 1000mAh cell is rated at that capacity under controlled conditions, but real-world draw during navigation is higher than the indicator's estimate accounts for. If the battery bar indicator also seems inaccurate, run one complete charge-to-cutoff cycle to let the device re-sync its voltage-to-percentage mapping. Check cell voltage at cutoff — the GPSlim236 should shut off no lower than 3.0V.
