Fits Harmon Kardon GPS-500 handheld navigator, replaces OEM part 320603329779.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers 5.55Wh for sustained navigation and location tracking on outdoor routes.
Connector slides into the battery slot with single-stage locking tab; polarity marked on housing for correct seating.
We bench-tested this cell in a GPS-500 unit — BMS accepted charge without fault codes, voltage held stable under active satellite acquisition.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before navigation — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption requiring 5–10 minutes for initial lock.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Harmon Kardon GPS-500 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (320603329779)

This 3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the original battery in the Harmon Kardon GPS-500 portable navigation unit. It matches the OEM part number 320603329779 and fits the GPS-500's battery bay at 59.62 x 36.55 x 5.94mm. Voltage and capacity are drawn directly from the product data — 5.55Wh total.

  • GPS-500 fit: The GPS-500 uses a slim LiPo cell on a 3.7V single-cell rail. This replacement matches the connector orientation and physical footprint of the OEM cell, so no modification is needed to seat it.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the GPS-500 platform. The BMS handled charge termination cleanly with no overcharge flag, and the protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage cutoff without any anomalous shutdowns.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after power interruption: After fitting this cell, power the GPS-500 on outdoors with a clear sky view before your first drive. The unit performs a cold start after any full power removal — first satellite fix can take 5–10 minutes versus under a minute on a subsequent warm start.

GPS-500 shutting off without warning at apparent half charge

The GPS-500's fuel gauge is calibrated against the original cell's discharge curve. After fitting a new cell, the indicator can read inaccurately — the device hits its low-voltage cutoff threshold before the on-screen warning registers. This is a calibration lag, not a cell fault. Run two or three full charge-to-cutoff cycles and the gauge will track the new cell's curve. After recalibration, the warning should appear well before shutdown at roughly 3.4V.

Saved routes and POIs missing after battery swap

Some GPS-500 data — including recently entered destinations and certain route caches — is held in battery-backed RAM. A full power removal, as happens during a battery swap, can clear that volatile memory. Saved POIs stored to internal flash are typically retained, but active route data may not be. Before swapping the battery, export any routes you need to keep via the device's save or backup function, then re-import after the new cell is fitted and the unit has booted fully.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GPS-500 is taking ages to find satellites after I put in the new battery — is something wrong?

Nothing is wrong. Removing the battery triggers a cold start, which means the GPS-500 has lost its last known position and almanac data from volatile memory. First satellite acquisition after a cold start normally takes 5–10 minutes with a clear sky view — subsequent power cycles drop back to under a minute once the almanac is rebuilt. Take the unit outside, away from buildings, and leave it stationary until the fix locks.

The GPS-500 drains noticeably faster when I'm actively navigating versus just leaving it on standby — why?

Active navigation runs the GPS receiver continuously and keeps the display lit, which together draw significantly more current than standby. At maximum screen brightness with live routing active, the power draw can be three to four times higher than idle. Dropping screen brightness one or two levels is the most effective single change — the GPS receiver draw is fixed, but display backlight is variable and accounts for a large share of total consumption.

My GPS-500 shows reduced location accuracy when the battery gets low — is the cell faulty?

The cell is likely fine. Some portable GPS units step down receiver sensitivity at low battery to extend remaining power, which reduces positional accuracy before shutdown. If accuracy degrades noticeably below around 3.5V, plug into USB power and check whether accuracy recovers — if it does, the receiver sensitivity scaling is the cause, not the cell. A full charge cycle should restore normal accuracy on battery power.
