Fits TomTom Go 1000, Go 1005, Go 1000 Live and replaces OEM part AHL03711018, VF1C, 4CQ02.
3.7V 1000mAh lithium-ion delivers the same energy capacity as the original cell for this touchscreen GPS unit.
Connector slides straight onto the device contact pins with no adapter needed; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
We bench-tested this cell through five full cycles on a Go 1000 unit — BMS engaged without fault codes and voltage held steady under active navigation load.
After fitting this cell, power the GPS fully on outdoors and allow it to acquire a satellite fix before use — GPS performs a cold start after power interruption that takes 5–10 minutes for first fix versus under a minute for subsequent warm starts.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

TomTom Go 1000 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AHL03711018)

This is a 3.7V, 1000mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the original battery in the TomTom Go 1000, Go 1005, Go 1000 Live, and related models including the 4CS0.002.01. It fits the thin 42 × 36 × 5mm battery bay and connects via the original two-pin ribbon connector. Voltage and capacity match the factory spec exactly.

  • Go 1000 and Go 1005 shared platform: These models run the same mainboard revision with identical voltage rails, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers all variants listed above without any modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a Go 1000 unit through full charge and discharge while monitoring BMS communication. The protection circuit responded correctly to both overvoltage and undervoltage cutoff thresholds throughout testing.
  • Cold-start satellite acquisition after swap: After fitting this cell, power the Go 1000 on outdoors and let it acquire a satellite fix before driving. Full power removal triggers a GPS cold start — expect 5 to 10 minutes for first lock versus under a minute once almanac data is cached.

GPS accuracy reduced at low battery on the Go 1000

When cell voltage drops below approximately 3.5V, the Go 1000 reduces power to the GPS receiver to extend operation. This lowers receiver sensitivity and can cause position drift or loss of fix in weaker signal areas like urban canyons or car parks. You may see the position marker jump or lag behind your actual position. Keeping the device plugged into the car charger during navigation eliminates this issue entirely.

Go 1000 shuts off without a low-battery warning

The fuel gauge IC on the Go 1000 mainboard learns capacity from charge cycles — after a battery swap it has no baseline to work from. It can show 20% remaining right up until the cell hits the BMS cutoff voltage and the unit powers off without warning. Run two full charge-to-discharge cycles via the car charger or mains adapter to let the gauge recalibrate. After that, the battery indicator will track remaining charge accurately again.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Go 1000 saved routes and favourites disappeared after I fitted the new battery — is that normal?

Yes. The Go 1000 stores some route and POI data in battery-backed RAM, and a full power removal wipes that volatile memory. Map data and installed content stored in flash are unaffected. If you backed up via TomTom MyDrive or HOME before the swap, restore from there. If not, you'll need to re-enter saved locations manually.

Satellite lock is taking 8 minutes after the battery replacement — the old battery locked in under a minute. What changed?

Replacing the battery cuts power completely, which clears the GPS receiver's almanac and ephemeris cache. Without that cached data, the receiver has to download a full set of satellite positions from scratch — that's a cold start, and 5 to 10 minutes is normal. Leave the unit stationary outdoors with a clear sky view for the first fix. Every subsequent lock after that will drop back to under a minute.

The Go 1000 drains the new battery much faster when actively navigating compared to just sitting on the desk — is the battery faulty?

It isn't faulty. Active navigation runs the GPS receiver, CPU, and display simultaneously — on maximum brightness that combination pulls significantly more current than standby. The original factory cell behaved the same way. Connect the Go 1000 to the car's USB or 12V adapter during any trip longer than a short commute; the device is not designed to run extended navigation sessions on battery alone.
