Fits Imou Cell 2 Camera, replaces OEM part number FRB20.
This 3.6V 5200mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the energy density needed for motion detection and WiFi uptime.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with positive terminal forward; locking tab seats flush with the housing.
We bench-tested the BMS against motion-trigger current spikes and sustained IR LED draw without early cutoff events.
Power cycle the camera through the app after installation — firmware must re-register the new cell before motion recording logs correctly to cloud storage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Imou Cell 2 Camera — 3.6V Li-ion Replacement Battery (FRB20)

This is a 3.6V 5200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Imou Cell 2 wireless security camera. It matches the OEM part number FRB20 and fits directly into the Cell 2 housing. Capacity is sourced from the product specification — 18.72Wh total stored energy.

  • Cell 2 platform fit: The Cell 2 uses a single-cell 3.6V Li-ion pack with a proprietary connector and an onboard BMS that manages charge cutoff and low-voltage protection. This replacement carries the same cell voltage and connector format, so the camera firmware recognises it without reconfiguration.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through the Cell 2's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from both USB input and the camera's solar terminal. Low-voltage cutoff triggered correctly at the expected threshold with no false trips during IR LED activation bursts.
  • First-install power cycle: After fitting this battery, power cycle the camera once through the Imou app. The firmware must register the new cell before motion-triggered recordings log correctly to cloud storage — skipping this step can cause missed clips even though the camera appears online.

App showing 0% or wrong percentage after installing the Cell 2 battery

The Cell 2 does not use a fuel-gauge IC. It reads battery level by sampling cell voltage against a fixed threshold table stored in firmware. A new cell sitting at storage voltage — typically around 3.7V — can fall outside the expected range the firmware maps to a percentage, so the app displays 0% or a stale reading. One full charge-to-discharge cycle recalibrates the voltage-to-percentage mapping. After that cycle, the app reading should align with actual charge state.

Camera going offline in the Imou app after battery swap

Swapping the battery clears the camera's active session token, which the app uses to maintain the live connection. The camera comes back on the local network, but the app does not automatically re-establish the session. Open the Imou app, navigate to the device settings, and use the reconnect or re-register option to push a new token to the camera. If the camera still shows offline after that, check that the WiFi signal at the camera location is above -70 dBm — a weak signal causes repeated reconnect attempts that can trip the BMS under sustained current draw.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Imou Cell 2 stops recording mid-clip — the footage just cuts off partway through a motion event. What's causing that?

Mid-clip cutoff on the Cell 2 is almost always a BMS trip triggered by the combined current spike of the IR LEDs, the processor, and the WiFi reconnect burst all drawing at once. If the WiFi signal at the camera is marginal, the radio ramps up transmit power to maintain the link, and that extra draw pushes total current past the BMS protection threshold. Move the camera closer to the access point or add a WiFi extender, then confirm the signal reads above -70 dBm in the Imou app diagnostics.

The Cell 2's solar panel was keeping the battery topped up all summer, but now in winter it's dropping to zero and not recovering — why won't the solar input charge it back up?

Solar panels on the Cell 2 output less current in winter due to lower sun angle and shorter daylight hours — output can fall below the minimum voltage the BMS requires to re-enter charging mode. Once the cell drops below roughly 3.0V, the BMS locks out to prevent unsafe charging of a deeply discharged cell, and the low solar input is not enough to satisfy the re-entry threshold. Charge the battery directly via USB until it reaches at least 3.4V, then reinstall it — the BMS will accept the solar input again from that point.

Night vision kicks on but the Cell 2 goes to sleep within a few seconds — it stops recording any actual footage after dark. Is this a battery issue?

Sustained IR LED draw at night is one of the highest-current loads the Cell 2 places on the battery. If the cell has degraded capacity or a high internal resistance, the voltage sag under that load can cross the BMS undervoltage threshold, triggering a shutdown that the camera firmware reads as a sleep event rather than a fault. Check the battery voltage directly — a healthy cell should hold above 3.5V under load. If the replacement battery is new and this still happens, confirm the camera firmware is up to date, as older versions have a known aggressive sleep threshold that a firmware update corrects.
