Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

SimpliSafe Wireless Security Camera — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (SSCAM-BAT3)
This 3.7V 7000mAh (25.9Wh) Li-ion cell replaces part number SSCAM-BAT3 in the SimpliSafe wireless security camera. It restores full battery-only operation when the original cell has degraded past usable capacity. The physical dimensions — 66.20 × 37.00 × 19.10mm — match the OEM housing exactly.
- SimpliSafe camera platform fit: SimpliSafe wireless cameras run a single-cell 3.7V architecture with a dedicated BMS that monitors cell voltage before enabling the motion sensor, IR LEDs, and WiFi radio. Any cell installed must meet the BMS re-entry voltage threshold — this replacement does.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the SimpliSafe camera's charge circuit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell at rest voltage, passed the motion-trigger current spike without cutoff, and held WiFi connection through repeated reconnect events.
- First-install power cycle: After fitting the new cell, power cycle the camera once through the SimpliSafe app. The firmware must register the new cell before motion recording logs correctly to cloud storage — skipping this step can leave motion events unrecorded even when the camera appears online.
Camera going offline in the app after battery installation
When you swap the cell, the camera loses its session token — the app's connection to that camera drops and may not recover automatically. This is a firmware handshake issue, not a fault with the battery or the camera hardware. Open the SimpliSafe app, navigate to the camera settings, and remove then re-add the device. The camera re-registers at that point and resumes normal online status.
App reporting 0% or an incorrect charge level after swap
SimpliSafe cameras use a voltage-threshold indicator to report battery percentage — there is no fuel gauge IC tracking charge history. When a new cell is installed, the indicator starts from a blank state and can display 0% or stall at a low number until the cell completes one full charge cycle. Run the camera through a full charge from the dock to 4.2V, then discharge it through normal use. After that first complete cycle, the percentage reading in the app will track accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SimpliSafe camera stops recording mid-clip — it cuts out before motion leaves the frame. Why does this happen after a battery swap?
A mid-clip dropout is almost always a WiFi reconnect event pulling a current spike that trips the BMS on a cell sitting near its lower voltage threshold. When the camera briefly loses signal and reconnects, the radio draws a sharp burst of current — if the cell voltage is already low, the BMS cuts power to protect the cell. Move the camera closer to the router or add a WiFi extender, and confirm the cell has completed one full charge cycle before relying on it for continuous recording.
My SimpliSafe camera's night vision stops working a few hours after dark, but the camera still appears online in the app. What's happening?
The IR LEDs draw sustained current that the processor and WiFi radio don't — over several hours overnight, that combined load pulls the cell voltage down to the point where the BMS throttles or cuts the IR array to protect the cell, even though the low-power processor and radio stay live. This is more common with an aged original cell but can also appear if the replacement hasn't completed a full charge cycle yet. Charge the camera fully to 4.2V, run one complete discharge cycle, and the BMS will have an accurate voltage baseline to manage IR draw correctly.
The solar panel on my SimpliSafe camera isn't recharging the new battery — the percentage stays flat even on sunny days. What's the fix?
Solar panels feed charge current through the camera's charge circuit, which won't accept input if the cell voltage is below the BMS re-entry threshold — a deeply discharged cell can lock out solar charging entirely. If the replacement cell arrived in a low state of charge, the panel output alone may not be enough to push the cell voltage above that threshold. Connect the camera to a USB charger directly until the indicator shows at least 20%, then return it to solar — once the cell is above the re-entry voltage, the panel will take over and charge normally.
