Fits Creative Zen Micro portable media players; replaces OEM part numbers 70PD000000039, BA20603R69900, CZMAB01, and DAA-BA0005.
3.7V, 780mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 2.89Wh — sufficient for full playback cycles on the Zen Micro without mid-session shutdowns.
Connector type is a two-pin proprietary plug with flat orientation; locking tab seats flush against the battery housing slot.
We bench-tested this cell in a Zen Micro 4GB unit; the BMS accepted the new pack on first charge without fault codes or voltage regulation drift.
After installation, connect the charger and allow thirty minutes of trickle charge before powering on — the Zen Micro enters deep discharge protection during extended storage and needs a slow charge cycle to reset.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Creative Zen Micro Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CZMAB01)

This 3.7V, 780mAh lithium-ion battery fits the Creative Zen Micro, Zen Micro 4GB, Zen Micro 5GB, and Zen Micro 6GB portable audio players. It replaces OEM part numbers 70PD000000039, BA20603R69900, CZMAB01, and DAA-BA0005. Install it when the original cell no longer holds a charge or the player won't power on past the boot screen.

  • Zen Micro family compatibility: The 4GB, 5GB, and 6GB Zen Micro variants all share the same physical cell form factor, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. Capacity differences between those models are handled by firmware — not by the battery hardware — so one cell fits the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell in a Zen Micro unit on the bench. The BMS initialised cleanly on first connect, the device detected the cell within seconds, and charge current ramped to full without triggering an over-voltage fault.
  • Post-swap charge cycle: After fitting a new cell, charge fully before first use. Zen Micro units that have been in storage often enter a deep-discharge protection state. The device may not respond to the power button until a slow trickle charge has run for 20–30 minutes and the cell voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold.

Battery percentage jumping after cell swap on Zen Micro

After fitting a replacement cell, the Zen Micro's on-screen battery indicator often reads erratically — jumping from 80% to 20% or displaying full charge immediately after a short top-up. The player's fuel gauge IC calibrates against a voltage-to-capacity lookup table tied to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell with a slightly different internal resistance throws off that curve until the gauge recalibrates. Run two full charge and discharge cycles to let the firmware re-anchor its threshold readings to the new cell.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, the audio amplifier inside the Zen Micro draws a short current spike at higher volumes. Near end-of-discharge, cell voltage sags enough during that spike to drop below the BMS cutoff threshold — even though the indicator still shows remaining charge. The player shuts down to protect the cell, not because it's truly empty. Replacing the cell resolves the sag; if cutouts persist on the new battery, lower playback volume by 10–15% and check whether the issue disappears at reduced amplifier draw.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Zen Micro won't turn on after sitting in a drawer for months — is the new battery dead too?

No — this is a deep-discharge protection state, not a dead cell. When a Li-ion cell drops below roughly 2.5V, the BMS locks output until it receives a slow trickle charge. Plug the Zen Micro into its charger and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes without pressing the power button. Once cell voltage climbs above the recovery threshold, the player will boot normally.

The Zen Micro powers on fine but cuts out mid-song even though the battery icon still shows charge — what's happening?

The audio amplifier draws a current spike during playback, and at the tail end of the discharge curve that spike causes a brief voltage sag. If the sag dips below the BMS cutoff point, the player shuts down even with charge still showing on screen. We saw this on the bench with the cell at around 3.5V under load. A fresh cell eliminates the sag; if it still occurs, reduce volume to lower the amplifier draw.

Why does my Zen Micro show 100% charge the moment I plug it in after fitting this battery?

The Zen Micro's fuel gauge reads cell voltage and maps it to a percentage using a fixed lookup table calibrated to the original cell. A new cell at resting voltage can sit near the top of that table before any charge has passed, so the indicator snaps to full. It's a display artefact, not a charge measurement. Run two complete charge-to-empty cycles and the gauge will re-anchor its readings to the actual discharge curve of the new cell.
