Fits iRiver L Player 2GB, 4GB, 8GB; replaces OEM part 8D05N13849.
3.7V, 750mAh Li-Polymer cell delivers enough capacity for full-day audio playback on the L Player.
Connector slides into the original battery slot; locking tab aligns with the device housing clip.
We bench-tested this cell in an L Player 2GB; BMS accepted charge current on first insertion without fault codes.
On first power-up after installation, the device may display battery percentage erratically for one full charge cycle as the firmware recalibrates voltage thresholds to the new cell.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRiver L Player Series — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (8D05N13849)

This 3.7V, 750mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the iRiver L Player 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 1LP8WHT. It fits the full L Player range sharing OEM part number 8D05N13849. Capacity matches the factory specification at 2.78Wh.

  • L Player family compatibility: The 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, and 1LP8WHT models all run the same voltage rail and use an identical connector footprint, which is why they share one battery part number across the lineup.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the L Player platform. The BMS accepted the new cell without error flags, and charge termination occurred cleanly at full capacity.
  • Post-install charge cycle: If the player shows no response after fitting this battery, connect the original charger and leave it for 30 minutes before attempting to power on. Cells shipped at storage charge can sit below the device's minimum startup threshold, and the charger must deliver a trickle current first to bring the voltage up before the firmware will boot.

L Player not waking after extended storage

Li-Polymer cells lose roughly 5–8% charge per month in storage. An L Player left unused for six months or more can arrive at a voltage so low the protection circuit locks the cell out entirely. The device will show nothing on screen — no charge indicator, no backlight. Connect the charger and wait. Most BMS circuits in this class begin accepting trickle current at around 2.5V and will unlock normal charging once the cell climbs past 3.0V.

Battery percentage jumping erratically after cell swap

The L Player reads remaining charge by measuring cell voltage against a fixed lookup table stored in firmware. A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile than the aged one it replaced, so the voltage readings at mid-charge won't match the expected curve. The percentage display will jump — sometimes 20–30 points — during the first few cycles. Run two or three full charge-to-discharge cycles and the indicator will recalibrate to the new cell's actual discharge curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My iRiver L Player won't turn on at all after I installed the new battery — is the cell dead?

Almost certainly not. Li-Polymer cells ship at reduced storage voltage, and if that voltage sits below roughly 3.0V, the L Player's protection circuit will block startup entirely. Connect the charger and leave it plugged in for 30 minutes before pressing power. The trickle current has to lift the cell past the minimum threshold before the firmware will boot.

Playback cuts out suddenly while the battery indicator still shows charge remaining — what's happening?

The audio amplifier in the L Player draws a short current spike to drive headphones, and at the tail end of the discharge curve that spike causes the cell voltage to sag below the cutoff threshold momentarily. The device shuts down even though the percentage counter hasn't hit zero. This is normal behaviour for a Li-Polymer cell nearing full discharge — it isn't a fault with the battery. Plug in the charger as soon as playback starts cutting out rather than waiting for the indicator to reach empty.

The battery percentage on my L Player jumps around after fitting this replacement — it went from 60% straight to 30% during one song.

The L Player estimates charge level by mapping cell voltage to a firmware lookup table calibrated for the original cell. A fresh cell has a different internal resistance, so the voltage readings don't line up with that table yet. Run two full charge and discharge cycles without interrupting them mid-way, and the indicator will settle into an accurate reading for the new cell's actual discharge profile.
