Fits Creative Zen Vision M and Zen Vision M Video; replaces DVP-HD0003 and BA20603R79914.
3.7V at 1500mAh delivers 5.55Wh — sufficient for full-length video playback on the Zen Vision M's 2.5-inch screen.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reversal.
We bench-tested this cell on a Zen Vision M unit; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with no fault cycles.
After installation, insert the battery and hold the power button for eight seconds before connecting to the charger — the Zen Vision M's protection circuit requires a manual wake signal after cell replacement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Creative Zen Vision M — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (DVP-HD0003)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Creative Zen Vision M and Zen Vision M Video portable media players. It replaces OEM part numbers DVP-HD0003 and BA20603R79914. The battery slots into the original battery bay and connects to the same flex connector used on the factory cell.

  • Zen Vision M and Zen Vision M Video compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V power rail, use the same physical bay dimensions, and share the connector pinout. Either device accepts this cell without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the cell through charge cycles on a Zen Vision M unit and confirmed the BMS accepted the cell, reported state of charge correctly, and did not trigger a protection cutoff at full load during video playback.
  • First-charge protocol after installation: If the player shipped in storage mode or sat unused for months, connect it to the wall charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. The Zen Vision M enters a deep-discharge protection state that blocks normal startup until the cell reaches a minimum threshold voltage — USB from a PC may not deliver enough current to recover it.

Battery percentage jumping erratically after a cell swap

The Zen Vision M uses a voltage-threshold fuel gauge — it infers charge level from cell voltage rather than tracking coulombs. A new cell has a different discharge curve than the worn original, so the player's on-screen percentage will misread for the first few charge cycles. Run two to three full charge-to-depletion cycles and the displayed percentage will track actual capacity more accurately. Do not judge the replacement cell based on what the indicator shows in the first 48 hours.

Playback cutting out before the battery indicator shows empty

The audio amplifier in the Zen Vision M draws a short burst of higher current at the end of the discharge curve, when cell voltage is already near its floor. If the cell voltage dips below roughly 3.2V under that load, the BMS trips the protection circuit and shuts the player down — even though the indicator still showed a bar or two remaining. This is a normal BMS response, not a fault with the replacement cell. The fix is to charge the device before it reaches the last indicator segment rather than running it flat.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Zen Vision M won't turn on at all after I put in the new battery — is the cell dead?

Almost certainly not. The Zen Vision M enters a deep-discharge protection state when the cell voltage drops too low, and the BMS will block startup until the cell recovers past its minimum threshold. Connect the player to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for at least 30 minutes without pressing anything. Once the cell climbs above approximately 3.0V, the protection circuit releases and the power button responds normally.

The battery percentage on my Zen Vision M jumps around — it shows 60%, then suddenly drops to 20% with no warning. Is this a faulty cell?

This is a calibration issue, not a defective cell. The Zen Vision M estimates charge level by reading cell voltage against a stored lookup table built for the original factory cell. A replacement cell's discharge curve doesn't match that table exactly, so the indicator miscalculates until the player recalibrates. Run two full charge-and-drain cycles and the displayed percentage will stabilise against the new cell's actual curve.

My Zen Vision M plays fine for a while, then cuts out abruptly during video — the screen just goes black mid-playback.

The video decoder and backlight together draw a higher current spike than audio-only playback, and near the end of the discharge curve that spike pulls cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold — typically around 3.0V — triggering a shutdown. The cell isn't faulty; it's doing what it should. Avoid running the player flat during video: charge it when the indicator reaches two bars, and the mid-playback cutout will stop happening.
