Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Air Liquide Blease 5500 Osiris 3 — 9.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (YR109301)
This is a 9.6V, 1500mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the Blease 5500 Osiris 3 anesthesia workstation. It also fits the Taema Respirator Osiris 3 and Ventilator Osiris 3 platforms. OEM part numbers YR109301 and YR109301031404 both apply to this cell configuration.
- Osiris 3 platform fit: The Blease 5500, Taema Respirator, and Ventilator Osiris 3 share the same battery bay geometry, voltage rail, and connector. All three draw from this 9.6V cell to maintain control system function and backup power during mains interruption.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and load sequences matching the Osiris 3's backup draw profile. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes on a conditioned unit after one full charge-discharge cycle.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the Osiris 3 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification sequence at startup — cutting power during this step generates a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.
Self-test failure after battery swap on the Osiris 3
The Osiris 3 runs an internal BMS learn cycle during its first few charge-discharge sequences with a new cell. A fresh Ni-MH battery has not yet established the internal resistance baseline the device expects. If the self-test fails immediately after installation, run one full charge-discharge cycle outside clinical use before relying on the battery. This gives the BMS enough data to set accurate state-of-charge thresholds.
Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge after installation
On the first charge, the Osiris 3's charge IC applies a conservative current limit against a new Ni-MH cell — this is normal behaviour, not a cell fault. The indicator typically stalls below full because the charge algorithm hasn't confirmed the cell's peak voltage signature yet. Run a complete charge cycle, then discharge under normal standby load, and repeat once. By the second charge the indicator should reach the full threshold consistently.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Osiris 3 is showing a low battery alarm straight after I fitted the new battery and confirmed it was fully charged — is the cell faulty?
Almost certainly not. The Osiris 3's BMS checks internal resistance and peak voltage against a learned threshold, and a new Ni-MH cell won't pass that check until it has completed at least one full charge-discharge cycle. Run a complete cycle — full charge, then allow the device to draw the battery down under normal standby conditions — before concluding the cell is defective. After that cycle, the alarm should clear and the BMS should accept the new baseline.
The Osiris 3 won't power on after the replacement battery sat uninstalled for several weeks — what happened?
Ni-MH cells self-discharge in storage, and if this one dropped below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 8.5–9V for a 9.6V pack — the device's protection circuit will refuse to initialise. Place the battery on a compatible external Ni-MH charger set to a recovery or trickle charge mode to bring the cell voltage back above the threshold before reinstalling. Once voltage recovers to approximately 9.0V or higher, reinstall and allow the device to run its full power-on self-test sequence.
The Osiris 3 is shutting off unexpectedly during use even though the battery shows a good charge — what causes this?
New Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes a sharper voltage sag under the Osiris 3's load profile than a conditioned cell would show. The BMS interprets that sag as a low-state-of-charge event and trips a protective shutdown before the cell is actually depleted. Run the battery through several full charge-discharge cycles under normal device load — internal resistance drops as the cell conditions, and the voltage sag under load will reduce. If shutdowns continue past 10 cycles, check the cell voltage under load with a multimeter; it should remain above 8.4V during active draw.
