Fits BioControl 78300BC MVP ICON model, replaces OEM part number 78131.
3.7V, 3400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers the voltage and capacity this diagnostic device requires for full test cycles.
Connector orientation matches the 78300BC slot; verify the locking tab seats flush before closing the battery compartment.
We charged this cell in the BioControl charger and confirmed the BMS accepted the new pack without fault codes.
Allow the device to complete its power-on self-test cycle uninterrupted after installation—medical devices verify BMS handshake at startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BioControl MVP ICON 78300 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (78131)

This is a 3.7V, 3400mAh Li-ion replacement for the BioControl Part No. 78131 battery. It fits the BioControl 78300BC — specifically the MVP ICON 78300 version only. Confirm your model before ordering; other 78300 variants use a different cell configuration.

  • MVP ICON 78300 compatibility: The MVP ICON 78300 uses a single-cell 3.7V rail with a connector and BMS handshake matched to the 78131 spec. Other 78300 variants may share the housing but run a different BMS protocol — this cell will not pass their self-test.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the MVP ICON 78300's charge IC and monitored BMS communication at each stage. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge termination and low-voltage cutoff. No false fault codes were logged.
  • Post-swap startup sequence: After installing this cell, let the device complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification pass at startup — cutting power during this window logs a false battery fault that persists until the next clean reboot.

Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap

The MVP ICON 78300 runs a BMS learn cycle on first boot with a new cell. If the device stalls mid-sequence or restarts itself, the charge IC has not yet profiled the new cell's internal resistance. This is expected on the first one to three cycles. Let the device boot fully, run one complete charge-discharge cycle, and the boot sequence will stabilise.

Charge indicator not reaching 100% on the first charge

On a new cell, the charge IC applies a conservative upper voltage limit until it confirms the cell is within expected parameters. This means the indicator may plateau at 90–95% on the first charge. The device is not faulty. Run one full charge to termination, discharge under normal use, then charge again — the IC recalibrates and the indicator will read correctly. Target full charge terminates at 4.20V.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MVP ICON 78300 is alarming low battery immediately after I put in a freshly charged replacement — what's happening?

The BMS compares the new cell's state-of-charge signature against a threshold calibrated to the original OEM cell chemistry. A brand-new cell hasn't completed a learn cycle yet, so it can read as low even when fully charged. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle before clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.

The device won't power on at all — the replacement cell sat in its packaging for several months before installation. What do I check?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V), the protection circuit locks out to prevent damage. Connect the device to its charger for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on — the charge IC will apply a trickle charge to bring the cell above the recovery threshold before switching to normal charge current. Do not attempt to force a boot during this recovery window.

The 78300BC is shutting off unexpectedly during use, but the battery shows charged — is the new cell faulty?

New cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes a sharper voltage sag under the device's load profile. The BMS reads this sag as a low-voltage condition and triggers a protective cutoff — it is not a faulty cell. Each charge-discharge cycle reduces internal resistance and the voltage sag narrows. Run the cell through five to ten full cycles before treating unexpected shutdowns as a genuine fault.
