Fits BioControl 78300BC MVP ICON analyzer; replaces OEM part number 78131 battery.
3.7V, 2600mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 9.62Wh for continuous immunoassay instrument operation.
Connector slides into slot with positive terminal facing outward; locking tab secures pack flush against housing.
We bench-tested against OEM discharge load; BMS accepted full charge on first cycle without fault codes.
After installation, allow the analyzer to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption — this device runs BMS verification at startup, and stopping it early causes a false low-battery alarm that only clears on full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

BioControl Vidas 78300BC — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (78131)

This is a 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the BioControl Vidas automated immunoassay analyzer, MVP ICON 78300 version only. It replaces OEM part number 78131. The battery maintains instrument power during routine diagnostic testing workflows in clinical laboratory environments.

  • MVP ICON 78300 version compatibility: The Vidas platform spans multiple hardware revisions. The 78300BC uses a specific connector pinout and BMS handshake tied to the MVP ICON 78300 version — other Vidas variants use different part numbers and are not interchangeable with this cell.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the 78131 cell through charge-discharge cycles on the analyzer's BMS. The protection circuit responded correctly to charge cutoff at 4.2V and low-voltage cutoff at 2.75V with no false trips recorded.
  • Post-installation startup sequence: After installing this battery, allow the Vidas 78300BC to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a verification pass at startup — cutting power mid-sequence creates a false battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.

Why the Vidas 78300BC reports a battery fault after a confirmed full charge

The Vidas BMS uses chemistry-specific charge thresholds calibrated to the OEM cell profile. A new replacement cell has not yet completed a learn cycle, so the BMS may reject its state-of-charge reading as out of range. This triggers a fault flag even when the cell is physically at full capacity. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle gives the BMS enough data to accept the new cell and clear the fault.

Charge indicator stuck below 100% on first charge

On first installation, the Vidas charge IC applies a conservative current limit to an unrecognised cell. This causes the charge indicator to plateau — typically between 85% and 95% — before the session ends. The cell is not defective; the charge IC has not yet built a full capacity profile. Complete a second full charge cycle from below 10% and the indicator will reach 100%.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vidas 78300BC shows a low battery alarm immediately after I installed a fully charged replacement — what's happening?

The analyzer's BMS compares incoming state-of-charge data against a stored OEM cell profile. A new cell hasn't completed a learn cycle, so the BMS flags its readings as out of threshold and raises the alarm even though the cell is full. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle on the instrument before returning it to clinical use. After that cycle, the BMS will accept the cell's data and the alarm will clear.

The analyzer won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in the packaging for a few months — is the cell dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below the BMS recovery threshold (typically around 2.5V), the protection circuit locks out the output. The cell is not necessarily failed — it needs a slow pre-charge to bring voltage back above the recovery threshold before the BMS will allow normal operation. Place the battery on charge in the instrument for at least 2–4 hours without attempting to power on; the charge IC will apply a trickle current to recover the cell. If voltage does not recover above 3.0V after that period, the cell has experienced deep discharge damage and should be replaced.

The Vidas 78300BC is shutting off unexpectedly during a test run after I installed the new battery — what causes this?

New Li-ion cells have slightly higher internal resistance in the first 5–10 cycles, which causes a larger voltage sag under the analyzer's load profile during active testing. If the sag pulls cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold mid-run, the instrument shuts off as a protection event — not a fault with the battery or the analyzer. Complete 5–10 full charge-discharge cycles on the instrument before returning it to clinical diagnostic use, and the internal resistance will drop enough to keep voltage above the 2.75V cutoff under load.
