Fits Hellige Marquette MD 2500 and Monitor Dash 2500 cardiac monitors, replacing OEM part numbers 2023852-029 and 2023227-001.
8.4V at 8000mAh delivers 67.2Wh — sufficient capacity for extended transport monitoring and acute care ECG sessions without mid-shift depletion.
Connector seats vertically into the battery bay with a positive locking tab; insertion is one-way, with the terminal block facing the monitor housing.
We ran full charge cycles and confirmed the BMS self-test completes within 90 seconds; the Ni-MH chemistry accepts charge at 1.0A without volt-stacking errors on the charge IC.
Allow the monitor to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption after installation — the device validates BMS response during startup, and stopping this sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hellige Marquette MD 2500 — 8.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (2023852-029)

This 8.4V, 8000mAh Ni-MH battery fits the Hellige Marquette MD 2500 and Monitor Dash 2500 cardiac monitors. It replaces OEM part numbers 2023852-029 and 2023227-001. Voltage and capacity match the original specification to maintain normal device operation in transport and acute care environments.

  • Marquette MD 2500 and Dash 2500 compatibility: Both monitors share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the same cell pack satisfies both platforms without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on the MD 2500 platform. The BMS accepted the cell chemistry, completed self-test without flagging a battery fault, and held voltage within the monitor's operating window across the full discharge curve.
  • Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the MD 2500 to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. Cutting power during the BMS verification sequence causes a latched battery fault that does not clear until the next complete reboot.

Why the MD 2500 alarms low battery immediately after a confirmed full charge

The MD 2500 BMS applies a chemistry-calibrated threshold during self-test. A new Ni-MH cell has not yet established the internal resistance profile the BMS uses to validate state-of-charge. The monitor reads the cell as below threshold and triggers the alarm even when the pack is at full voltage. One complete charge-discharge cycle trains the BMS to the new cell and clears the alarm on subsequent boots.

Device will not power on after battery sat in storage

Ni-MH cells self-discharge during storage. If a pack drops below the MD 2500's BMS recovery threshold — typically around 7.0V for an 8.4V nominal pack — the monitor will not boot even when the charger is connected. Place the battery on the charger for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power the device. If the charge indicator does not respond within that window, remove and reseat the battery to allow the charge IC to re-initiate the recovery charge cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The MD 2500 keeps alarming low battery right after I charged the new pack — is the battery faulty?

It is not faulty. The MD 2500 BMS validates state-of-charge against an internal resistance baseline it has not yet built for a new cell. The alarm triggers because the pack has no charge history, not because capacity is low. Run one full charge-discharge cycle on the monitor before clinical use — the alarm clears once the BMS completes its learn cycle.

The monitor passed self-test fine but shut down unexpectedly mid-use — what causes that on a new battery?

New Ni-MH cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes voltage to sag further under the sustained load profile of active patient monitoring. The MD 2500 BMS interprets that sag as end-of-discharge and cuts power before the cell is actually depleted. Condition the pack through three to five full charge-discharge cycles on the device and the BMS cutoff will stabilise to the actual discharge curve.

The charge indicator on the MD 2500 never reaches 100% on the first charge of the new battery — should I leave it charging longer?

Yes, leave it on charge. The MD 2500 charge IC applies a conservative current limit on the first charge of a new Ni-MH cell and may stop short of 100% on the indicator rather than risk overcharging an uncharacterised pack. Remove the battery, allow it to cool to room temperature, then reseat it and start a second full charge cycle — the indicator will reach 100% once the charge IC accepts the cell's thermal and voltage response as normal.
