Fits Labnet P3600L single-channel pipette; replaces OEM part LN P3600L-BAT-1.
3.7V, 800mAh lithium-ion cell powers the electronic dispensing mechanism in precision pipetting.
Connector mounts flat against the battery housing slot with positive contact facing left.
Bench testing showed normal BMS initialization on first charge; no cutoff delays observed.
Allow the pipette to complete its power-on self-test cycle without interruption after installation — the device verifies BMS chemistry on startup, and stopping mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until full reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Labnet P3600L Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (LN P3600L-BAT-1)

This is a 3.7V, 800mAh Li-ion cell for Labnet single and multichannel electronic pipettes in the P3600L series. It powers the internal motor and control board that drives automated liquid dispensing. The OEM part number is LN P3600L-BAT-1.

  • P3600L series compatibility: Labnet single and multichannel P3600L pipettes share the same 3.7V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — this cell fits both configurations without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on P3600L hardware. The BMS accepted the cell, completed its initialisation handshake, and held voltage within the expected operating window across the dispense cycle.
  • Post-swap power-on sequence: After installing this cell, let the pipette complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power during this sequence can trigger a persistent battery fault that won't clear until the next complete reboot.

Why the P3600L reports a battery fault after a confirmed full charge

The P3600L BMS stores a capacity baseline from the previous cell. When a new cell is installed, the BMS compares measured internal resistance against that stored profile. A fresh Li-ion cell has slightly different impedance characteristics than a worn one, and the BMS can flag this mismatch as a fault even though the cell is fully charged. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle allows the BMS to overwrite the old profile with the new cell's data. After that cycle, the fault clears and the device operates normally.

Charge indicator stuck below 100% on first charge after swap

On the first charge after a battery swap, the P3600L charge IC applies a conservative current limit while it measures the new cell's response. This causes the indicator to stall — typically between 85% and 95% — before completing. The cell is not defective. Allow the charge cycle to run to termination without unplugging; the IC will step up current once it has mapped the cell's charge acceptance curve. On the second charge, the indicator should reach 100% at the expected rate.

Frequently Asked Questions

My P3600L pipette shuts off mid-dispense on a new battery — what's happening?

The P3600L motor draws a short current spike at the start of each dispense stroke. In the first 10 cycles on a new cell, the BMS is still learning the load profile and can trip the overcurrent threshold during that spike, cutting power before the stroke completes. This is not a faulty battery — it is the BMS applying conservative limits on an uncharacterised cell. Run 10 full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use and the trip threshold will stabilise.

The pipette won't power on at all after the replacement cell sat in the packaging for a while — is the battery dead?

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage. If the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V while in storage, the BMS enters deep-discharge lockout and refuses to power the device to protect the cell from damage. Plug the pipette into its charger and leave it connected for at least 90 minutes without pressing any buttons — the charge IC applies a low-current recovery charge below the lockout threshold before handing off to normal charge mode. Once the cell recovers above 3.0V, the BMS will release lockout and the device will boot.

The self-test fails every time I power on the pipette after swapping the battery — the old battery passed every time.

The self-test failure is caused by the BMS learn cycle not yet being completed on the new cell. The P3600L runs a capacity verification during self-test and compares the result against its stored reference — a new cell with no charge history will not match that reference on the first boot. Complete one full charge to termination, then one full discharge to auto-shutoff, then recharge fully. After that single conditioning cycle, rerun the self-test; the BMS will have written a new reference baseline and the test will pass.
