Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Baxter Healthcare AS40 Series — 6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (NH6211WC)
This is a 6V, 2000mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for Baxter Healthcare AS40, AS40A, AS41, and AS50 infusion pumps. It replaces OEM part numbers NH6211WC, MDE2910, OM10669, and B11056. The cell format and connector match the original battery compartment on this pump family.
- AS40 pump family compatibility: The AS40, AS40A, AS41, and AS50 share a common 6V battery rail and the same BMS handshake protocol. Any pump in this series drawing from that rail will accept this cell without modification to connectors or firmware thresholds.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the AS40's power-on self-test sequence and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The protection circuit held within spec under the pump's steady infusion load profile.
- Self-test cycle before clinical use: After installing this battery, allow the pump to complete one full charge-discharge cycle before placing it in clinical service. The BMS calibrates its capacity register on the first cycle — skipping this step causes the charge indicator to report incorrectly until the learn cycle finishes.
Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap
The AS40 runs a power-on self-test that checks battery voltage before the pump reaches the ready state. A new Ni-MH cell that has partially self-discharged in storage can sit just below the BMS's minimum boot threshold — enough charge to light the display, but not enough to pass the self-test gate. Charge the battery fully before the first power-on. If the pump still fails to boot after a confirmed full charge, leave it on charge for an additional two hours to let the cell settle above 7.0V open-circuit.
Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens when the pump's BMS compares the new cell's voltage curve against the threshold it learned from the previous battery. Ni-MH cells peak at a slightly different voltage profile on the first few cycles, and the BMS reads that as a low-state-of-charge condition. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — let the pump discharge to the automatic cutoff, then recharge fully to 100%. After that first cycle, the BMS recalibrates and the alarm clears.

Frequently Asked Questions
My AS40 pump shuts off unexpectedly during an infusion run even though the battery shows fully charged — what's causing this?
The AS40's load profile during active infusion draws harder than during standby, and a new Ni-MH cell in its first ten cycles has not yet reached full charge acceptance. The BMS reads the resulting voltage sag under load as a depleted cell and triggers a protective cutoff. Run the battery through three to five full charge-discharge cycles before clinical use — after conditioning, the cell handles the infusion load without the voltage dropping below the cutoff threshold.
The charge indicator on the AS40 won't reach 100% on the first charge after installing a new battery — is the charger faulty?
The charge IC applies a conservative current limit on a new or unrecognised cell, which means the first charge terminates earlier than the display suggests. The charger is not faulty. Allow the pump to complete a full discharge to automatic cutoff, then recharge without interruption. The charge IC recalibrates on the second cycle and the indicator will read correctly from that point forward.
The AS40 self-test fails and shows a battery fault immediately after I swapped the cell — the old battery passed every time.
Interrupting the pump's startup sequence — even briefly removing power mid-boot — writes a fault flag that persists until the device completes a clean reboot. Power the pump off completely, confirm the new battery is seated and the connector is fully engaged, then power on and let the self-test run without interruption. If the fault flag persists after a clean boot, charge the cell to full and repeat — the BMS requires voltage above 6.0V at startup to pass the self-test gate.
