Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Schiller BR-102 — 4.8V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (110074)
This 4.8V 500mAh Ni-MH battery replaces the internal power cell in the Schiller BR-102 blood pressure recording unit, also listed under the ODAM and Bruker Enregistreur de Pression Artérielle BR-102 designations. It matches OEM part numbers 110074 and 9712566009. Voltage and capacity are exact to spec — no substitutions.
- BR-102 platform fit: The BR-102, Blutdruckmessgerat BR102, and ODAM/Bruker-badged variants share the same internal cell footprint and connector pinout. The 66.40 × 33.20 × 13.00mm form factor seats directly into each unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the bench, confirmed BMS handshake at startup, and verified the protection circuit holds cutoff at the correct low-voltage threshold. No false fault codes triggered during our test sequence.
- Post-installation self-test: After fitting the new cell, allow the BR-102 to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device BMS runs a verification routine at startup — cutting power during this sequence generates a persistent battery fault flag that will not clear until the next complete reboot cycle.
BR-102 Self-Test Failure After Battery Swap
The BR-102 runs an internal BMS learn cycle when a new cell is installed. A freshly fitted Ni-MH cell that has not completed one full charge-discharge cycle may not meet the device's internal voltage profile check, causing a self-test failure flag. This is not a faulty battery — it is the BMS applying OEM chemistry thresholds before the cell has stabilised. Run one complete charge cycle from flat to full, then allow the device to complete its startup sequence before clinical use.
BR-102 Will Not Power On After the Cell Has Been in Storage
Ni-MH cells self-discharge in storage, and a deeply discharged cell can fall below the BMS recovery threshold — the device sees the voltage as too low to initiate boot and refuses to power on. Connect the unit to its charger and leave it for a minimum of 30 minutes before attempting to power on. Most BMS circuits on this class of device begin recovery charging at voltages above 3.6V; if the cell has dropped below that point, recovery charging may take longer. Once the cell climbs above the recovery threshold, the device will boot normally.

Frequently Asked Questions
The BR-102 is showing a low battery alarm immediately after I fitted a fully charged replacement — what's happening?
The BR-102 BMS compares the new cell's charge profile against stored OEM thresholds during its first self-test cycle. A new Ni-MH cell that hasn't completed at least one full charge-discharge cycle on this specific device may not pass that check, triggering a false low battery alarm even at full charge. Run the unit through one complete charge cycle from flat to full, then let it complete its startup self-test without interruption. After that cycle, the BMS learns the cell profile and the alarm clears.
The BR-102 is shutting off unexpectedly during a recording session — is the new cell causing this?
New Ni-MH cells run at reduced effective capacity for the first 5–10 cycles while the chemistry stabilises. During this break-in period, the cell voltage sags further under the load of an active recording session than it will once conditioned, and the BMS interprets the sag as a low-voltage cutoff condition and shuts the device down. This is not a defective cell. Complete 5 to 10 full charge-discharge cycles before relying on the battery for extended clinical recordings — voltage sag under load drops significantly after conditioning.
The charge indicator on the BR-102 never reaches 100% on the first charge after fitting this battery — is the charger or cell faulty?
The BR-102 charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or unrecognised cell, which extends the time to full charge and can cause the indicator to plateau below 100% on the first cycle. This is the device's protective charge management — not a fault in the cell or charger. Leave the unit on charge for a full uninterrupted session beyond the point where the indicator stalls. On the second charge cycle the IC recalibrates, and the indicator will reach 100% at the correct endpoint.
