Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

GlocalMe G3 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (G1611)
This 3.7V, 4400mAh lithium-polymer battery replaces the OEM G1611 cell in the GlocalMe G3 portable Wi-Fi hotspot. The G3 shares cellular data with multiple connected devices simultaneously, placing a continuous combined load on the modem and Wi-Fi radio. When the original cell degrades, the hotspot loses the current headroom it needs to sustain that dual-radio draw.
- G3 and G1611 compatibility: Both the G3 device and the G1611 OEM part number share identical voltage rails, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the same replacement cell covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell under a simulated five-device connection load with active cellular data transfer. The BMS held the discharge curve steady through peak draw without triggering a low-voltage cutoff prematurely.
- Ventilation during extended sessions: Keep the G3 in an open, unobstructed spot during long sessions. When connected devices are far from the hotspot, the cellular radio runs at maximum transmit power — that sustained output raises internal temperature and accelerates cell stress.
Why the G3 drops connected users mid-session on a new battery
The G3 drives two power-hungry systems at once — the cellular modem and the Wi-Fi radio. At maximum client connections, instantaneous current draw spikes well above the average load the BMS uses for steady-state management. If cell internal resistance is elevated, voltage briefly sags below the BMS cutoff threshold, triggering a momentary shutdown even when the displayed charge level looks healthy. A genuine 4400mAh cell with low internal resistance maintains the voltage headroom needed to absorb those spikes.
G3 won't boot after sitting unused for several weeks
Lithium-polymer cells self-discharge slowly during storage. If the G3 sat dormant long enough for the cell to drop below roughly 3.0V, the BMS enters a protective lock-out state and refuses to pass current to the board. Plug the device into its charger and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before pressing the power button — the charger's pre-charge circuit recovers the cell gradually from that low-voltage state. If the charge indicator still shows no activity after 30 minutes, the original cell has likely dropped below recoverable threshold and this replacement is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
The G3 shows a full charge but drops all connected devices after heavy use — what's causing it?
The combined draw of the cellular modem and Wi-Fi radio at maximum connections can spike current fast enough to pull cell voltage below the BMS cutoff momentarily, even when the charge gauge reads high. This happens because the BMS samples voltage under low-load conditions to calculate displayed percentage — it doesn't reflect the sag under peak draw. A degraded cell with rising internal resistance can't sustain that current without a voltage dip. Replace the cell and confirm the issue clears; a healthy 4400mAh Li-Po cell at 3.7V nominal holds enough headroom to absorb those spikes.
Battery drains noticeably faster when I'm in a weak cellular signal area — is something wrong with the battery?
Nothing is wrong with the cell itself — this is the cellular radio working harder. When signal is weak, the modem increases its transmit power to maintain the connection, pulling significantly more current from the battery than it would in a strong-signal area. The drain increase is real and expected under those conditions. Move to a higher signal area where possible, or reduce the number of devices connected to the hotspot to lower the total radio load.
The G3 charged overnight but still won't power on — how do I recover it?
If the cell dropped below roughly 3.0V before charging began, the BMS may have entered a deep-discharge lock-out and the device won't respond to a short charge attempt. Leave it connected to the charger for a full 45–60 minutes without pressing the power button — the charger's pre-charge trickle mode needs time to bring the cell back above the BMS re-initialisation threshold of approximately 3.0–3.2V. After that window, press and hold the power button for five seconds. If there is still no response, the original cell is below recoverable voltage and this replacement cell is required.
