Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

CATERPILLAR CAT S52 — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (APP00307)
This is a 3.8V, 2900mAh Li-Polymer replacement battery for the CATERPILLAR CAT S52 rugged smartphone. It carries OEM part number APP00307 and is a direct cell swap for units where the original battery has swollen, lost capacity, or failed outright. Capacity figure is 11.02Wh.
- CAT S52 fitment: The S52 uses a sealed chassis with a specific connector pinout and BMS handshake tied to the APP00307 cell specification. Swapping to a cell with a mismatched voltage curve or different pin assignment will trigger charge rejection at the power management IC level.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on the S52 platform and confirmed the BMS accepted the handshake, charge current ramped correctly through CC/CV stages, and no protection trip occurred at full charge or under modem load.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first cycle: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and allow one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean discharge curve to map against the new cell before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the CAT S52 after a cell swap
The S52's fuel gauge IC builds its state-of-charge model against the original cell's discharge curve stored in non-volatile memory. A new cell has a slightly different internal resistance profile, so the IC misjudges remaining capacity and the phone hits a voltage cliff under modem or screen load before the percentage reaches zero. The BMS interprets the voltage drop as a hard undervoltage event and cuts power immediately. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard rate lets the coulomb counter reset and re-anchor to the new cell's actual curve.
USB fast charge not activating after battery replacement on the S52
On the first charge cycle after installation, some S52 units hold the charge IC in standard 5V mode rather than negotiating a higher voltage via the USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge protocol. This happens because the BMS flags the new cell as unverified and applies a conservative current limit until it logs a successful full cycle. Charge the phone once from near-empty to 100% at standard rate using the original cable and wall adapter. After that cycle completes, fast charge typically resumes on the next plug-in.

Frequently Asked Questions
My CAT S52 shuts off suddenly when the screen says 25% — is the new battery faulty?
Not necessarily faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the S52 is still using the discharge curve it mapped to the old cell. When the new cell's voltage drops faster under load than the IC expects, it triggers an emergency cutoff before the display percentage reaches zero. Run one full discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% at standard rate. After that single recalibration cycle, the shutdowns at 20–30% typically stop.
The battery percentage on my CAT S52 jumps around erratically after I fitted the new cell — 60% one minute, 45% the next.
The coulomb counter is recalibrating. It lost its reference point when the old cell was removed and is now estimating charge state against a curve it hasn't fully mapped yet. This settles after one or two complete discharge-charge cycles at standard rate — no fast charging during those cycles. By the end of the second full cycle the IC has enough data to anchor the percentage readings accurately and the jumping stops.
My CAT S52 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in storage for a few months before I installed it.
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge in storage, and if the cell dropped below approximately 2.5V the BMS entered lockout mode to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a PC port — and leave it connected for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. A wall adapter delivers enough trickle current to bring the cell above the BMS re-initialisation threshold; a low-current USB port often cannot. Once the BMS unlocks, the charge indicator should appear and the phone will boot normally.
