Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Karcher LMO 36-40 / LMO 36-46 — 36V Li-ion Replacement Battery (6.445-039.0)
This 36V 2000mAh (72Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the OEM pack on the Karcher Cordless Lawn Mower LMO 36-40 and LMO 36-46. It also fits the Karcher Leaf Blower 36V LBL 4 and K2 platform tools that share the same 36V battery dock. Voltage, connector, and BMS communication match the original specification.
- LMO 36-40, LMO 36-46, LBL 4 compatibility: These tools share the same 36V sliding-rail dock and battery handshake protocol. The BMS in each tool reads cell voltage and temperature data from the pack before releasing motor power — the same communication stack runs across this entire Karcher 36V garden platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through full discharge and recharge on a 36V motor rig, monitoring BMS cutoff thresholds and cell balance across the discharge curve. All cells held within 50mV variance at the end of each discharge cycle, and the BMS tripped cleanly at the low-voltage cutoff without latching.
- Seasonal first-use conditioning: After winter storage, charge this battery fully before the first cut of the season, then run the mower at half-blade-load for two cycles before tackling dense or wet grass. Cold-stored Li-ion cells deliver reduced capacity on the first discharge — conditioning lets the cells recover to rated output before facing peak motor inrush on heavy turf.

When the blade hits a thick patch, motor inrush current spikes sharply — often 3–4× the steady-state draw. If the pack's internal resistance is elevated, that spike causes a rapid voltage sag. The BMS reads the sag as an undervoltage fault and cuts power to protect the cells. On a new pack that hasn't completed conditioning cycles, internal resistance is slightly higher than rated, making this cutout more likely in the first few uses. Run two lighter sessions first, and the cells will reach rated impedance.
Charger shows no activity after the battery sat unused all winter
Li-ion packs self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month. After several months in storage, total cell voltage can fall below the charger's acceptance threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. Most Karcher chargers will not begin a charge cycle on a pack below this floor as a safety measure. To recover the pack, place it in the charger and leave it for up to 30 minutes — many chargers run a trickle pre-charge mode at low current to bring cell voltage back above the 2.5V-per-cell floor before switching to standard CC/CV charging.

Frequently Asked Questions
My LMO 36-40 cuts out every time I hit a thick patch of grass — is the new battery faulty?
It's not a fault — it's the BMS responding to a voltage sag during motor inrush. When the blade contacts dense turf, current demand spikes sharply, and a new pack with slightly elevated internal resistance can sag enough to trigger the BMS undervoltage cutoff. Run two lighter sessions on shorter or dry grass first. After 3–5 conditioning cycles, internal resistance drops to rated spec and the cutouts stop.
The new battery drains noticeably faster when I mow in cold weather — why?
Li-ion cells lose usable capacity below 5°C because ion mobility in the electrolyte slows down, reducing the voltage the cells can sustain under load. The mower's BMS still cuts off at the same low-voltage threshold, so you get fewer cuts per charge in cold conditions — this is chemistry, not a defect. Store the battery indoors before mowing and fit it to the tool just before use. A pack that starts at room temperature will hold capacity significantly longer through a cold session.
The LMO 36-40 runs but feels weaker than it did with the original battery — what's causing it?
New Li-ion cells haven't completed their formation cycles, so they don't yet deliver full rated capacity or maintain voltage under load as steadily as a conditioned pack. This isn't a capacity or voltage mismatch — it corrects itself. Run the battery through 3–5 full discharge-and-recharge cycles on normal mowing tasks. By cycle 5, cell capacity and voltage stability should match or exceed the performance you saw with the original pack.
