Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Emporia Elson EL350 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BTY26169)
This is a 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell for the Emporia Elson EL350 and EL350 Dual, and the equivalent Mobistel EL350 and EL350 Dual variants. It replaces OEM part BTY26169. Use this when the original cell no longer holds a charge or causes unexpected shutdowns.
- EL350 and Mobistel EL350 compatibility: Both the Emporia and Mobistel-branded EL350 models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake requirements. The Emporia and Mobistel versions were sold under different regional branding but use identical hardware — this cell fits all four variants listed above.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on EL350 hardware and confirmed BMS communication, correct charge termination, and stable voltage delivery under call and display load. The fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell without triggering fault flags.
- Fuel gauge recalibration after swap: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter to the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the EL350 after a cell swap
The EL350's modem and display pull current spikes that expose a voltage cliff in aged or freshly installed cells before calibration. When the fuel gauge IC is still mapped to the old cell's discharge curve, it reports 20–30% remaining while the actual cell voltage has already dropped below the BMS cutoff threshold. The BMS trips and the phone shuts off without warning. One complete discharge cycle — draining to auto-off and charging to 100% without interruption — lets the coulomb counter recalibrate and eliminates most false cutoffs.
Phone won't power on after the battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge in storage, and if voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell the BMS enters lockout to prevent damage. The EL350 will show no signs of life — no charging indicator, no boot screen. Connect the phone to a wall charger rated at least 5V/1A and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button; the charge IC needs time to trickle current into the cell and bring voltage above the BMS re-enable threshold. Once the charging LED activates, the BMS has released lockout and normal charging can resume.

Frequently Asked Questions
My EL350 shuts off at around 25% battery — why does this only happen after I replaced the cell?
The fuel gauge IC is still using the discharge curve it mapped to the old, degraded cell. When it reads 25%, the new cell's actual voltage under modem load has already hit the BMS cutoff point. Run one uninterrupted full cycle — drain to auto-off, then charge to 100% — and the coulomb counter will remap to the new cell's curve. Most users stop seeing unexpected shutoffs after that single cycle.
The phone feels warm near the battery while it's charging — is that normal on a new cell?
A new cell typically has higher internal impedance than a fully conditioned one, so the charge IC works slightly harder during the first few cycles and generates a little more heat. This is most noticeable when the phone charges from a low state. If the device is only warm — not hot — and the temperature drops after the first two or three cycles, the cell is bedding in normally. If it stays hot or the back of the phone becomes uncomfortable to hold, stop charging and check that the charger output does not exceed 5V/1A.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically after I installed the replacement — 60% one minute, then 45% the next.
Erratic percentage readings mean the fuel gauge IC is recalibrating its coulomb counter against an unfamiliar cell. It has lost its reference points and is estimating voltage-to-capacity relationships it hasn't yet mapped. One complete discharge cycle from 100% down to auto-off, followed by a full uninterrupted charge, gives the IC enough data to anchor the curve. After that cycle, percentage reporting on the EL350 stabilises.
