Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Huawei Honor 2 / U9508 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HB5R1V)

This is a 3.8V, 2000mAh Li-ion cell replacing OEM part HB5R1V. It fits the Huawei Honor 2, Honor II, Honor Quad, and U9508 — all models sharing the same battery bay and connector pinout. Capacity figure comes from the product data, not a third-party source.

  • Honor 2 / U9508 platform fit: These models run the same PCB layout and use identical connector orientation and BMS handshake logic, so a single cell covers the full range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the HB5R1V through charge and discharge cycles on U9508 hardware. The BMS accepted charge current normally, held voltage through screen-on and modem-active load, and tripped cutoff correctly at the low-voltage threshold.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. The Honor 2's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — one slow cycle lets it re-map against the new cell before high-current charging begins.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Honor 2 after a cell swap

A fresh Li-ion cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity curve than the worn cell the fuel gauge IC was trained on. When the phone reports 25%, the actual cell voltage may already be near the load-collapse point under modem or display current draw. The phone shuts down not because the battery is faulty, but because the fuel gauge is reading from the wrong map. One full discharge cycle — letting the phone run down to automatic shutdown, then charging uninterrupted to 100% — resets the coulomb counter and resolves most mid-charge shutoffs.

Honor 2 not powering on after extended storage with a discharged battery

If this cell sat discharged below approximately 2.5V, the BMS enters a protective lockout state and will not pass current to the device, even when a charger is connected. Connect the phone to a low-output charger — a 5V/0.5A USB port works better here than a fast charger — and leave it for 20–30 minutes before pressing the power button. The trickle current slowly brings cell voltage above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 2.8–3.0V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Honor 2 show the wrong battery percentage after fitting a new HB5R1V cell?

The fuel gauge IC stores a discharge curve learned from the original cell. A new cell has a different internal resistance and voltage profile, so the percentage reading drifts immediately after swap. Run one complete discharge — screen on, no charging — until the phone shuts itself off, then charge to 100% without interruption. That single cycle recalibrates the coulomb counter against the new cell's actual curve.

Fast charging stopped working on my U9508 after I replaced the battery — what happened?

On the first cycle after installation, the BMS on a new cell sometimes rejects the handshake required for the proprietary fast-charge protocol. The charge IC falls back to standard 5V charging as a safety measure. Run the phone through one full standard-rate charge cycle first, then reconnect your original fast charger — the BMS completes its initialisation during that first cycle and the fast-charge handshake succeeds on the next attempt.

The Honor 2 feels warm near the battery during the first charge after replacement — is that normal?

A new high-impedance cell generates slightly more heat than a broken-in one as the charge IC pushes current into it. Surface warmth during the first one or two charge cycles is expected. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charger disconnects and reconnects repeatedly, remove the phone from the charger and let it cool — then resume charging at a lower-output adapter (5V/1A) until the cell has completed its first full cycle.
