Fits MetroPCS Quattro 4G and CP5860EM models; replaces OEM part number CPLD-74.
3.7V lithium-ion cell rated 2800mAh delivers stable voltage to modem and display without mid-call dropout.
Connector slots into the battery bay with a single locking tab; orientation marked on the device housing.
We bench tested this cell against the original OEM pack — BMS accepted charge current immediately with no fault codes.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell curve before high-current charging resumes.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

MetroPCS Quattro 4G / CP5860EM — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (CPLD-74)

This is a 3.7V, 2800mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the MetroPCS Quattro 4G and CP5860EM smartphones. It replaces OEM part number CPLD-74 when the original cell has degraded, lost capacity, or failed to hold a charge. Dimensions are 65.30 × 49.95 × 10.00mm — confirm physical fit before installing.

  • Quattro 4G and CP5860EM compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V single-cell architecture with the same connector footprint and BMS handshake, so one cell fits both. The charge IC expects the same cutoff thresholds across the platform.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the CP5860EM platform. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge IC reached full termination voltage without interruption.
  • First-cycle fast charge protocol: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated cell.

Why the Quattro 4G reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on the Quattro 4G uses a coulomb counter calibrated to the discharge curve of the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the stored curve no longer matches actual cell chemistry, so the percentage reading drifts. The gauge reports full charge earlier than the cell is actually full, or it drops sharply under modem or screen load. One full discharge to auto-off followed by a complete uninterrupted charge resets the counter against the new curve. After that cycle, percentage readings stabilise.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under load — even though the fuel gauge still shows remaining capacity. On the Quattro 4G, the LTE modem and display together can pull enough current to cause a rapid voltage sag on a cell the gauge hasn't fully mapped yet. The phone shuts down to protect the cell, not because the capacity is gone. Run one full calibration cycle first, then check whether shutdowns persist below 3.4V under load — if they do, the cell itself may have a high internal impedance.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Quattro 4G powers on with the new battery but shuts off suddenly around 25% — is the battery faulty?

Not necessarily. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads remaining voltage under load. When the LTE modem or screen draws a surge, the cell voltage sags below the BMS cutoff even though the counter shows charge remaining. Run one full discharge to auto-off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the coulomb counter against the new cell. If shutdowns continue after that cycle, check whether the phone is cutting off below 3.4V, which would point to high internal impedance in the cell.

Fast charging stopped working after I put the new battery in — the phone charges, but only slowly.

The charge IC on the Quattro 4G negotiates fast charge parameters at the start of each session. On the first cycle with a new cell, the BMS may present an impedance profile the IC doesn't recognise as safe for high-current charge, so it falls back to standard rate. This is normal on cycle one. Disable fast charging in settings, complete one full standard charge-discharge cycle, then re-enable it. After recalibration, the IC typically accepts the fast charge handshake from the second cycle onward.

The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal with this replacement cell?

Yes, on the first one to three charge cycles, a new high-impedance cell dissipates more energy as heat than a broken-in cell does. The charge IC is pushing current into a cell whose internal resistance hasn't settled to its operating baseline yet. Warmth around the battery compartment is expected — heat at the top of the phone near the processor is a separate issue. If the battery area stays hot throughout a full charge cycle after the third cycle, check that the charge current hasn't been locked into fast-charge mode against an uncalibrated cell; drop back to standard 5V charging until the fuel gauge stabilises.
