Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia 3128 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL-5001C)

This is a 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion cell built to the BL-5001C specification for the Nokia 3128. It replaces the original battery when the phone no longer holds charge, shuts off unexpectedly, or fails to power on. Capacity matches the OEM figure — 750mAh (2.78Wh).

  • Nokia 3128 fitment: The 3128 uses the BL-5001C form factor — a slim single-cell pack with a three-pin connector that feeds both charge current and the temperature sense line. Swapping to a cell that breaks that pinout causes the charge IC to reject the battery entirely.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge, standby, and load discharge on compatible Nokia hardware. The BMS accepted the charge handshake cleanly and held cutoff voltage within spec throughout the test cycle.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration after install: On first use, disable any fast-charge mode and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle. The Nokia 3128's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve — giving it one clean cycle against the new cell lets it reset its coulomb counter baseline before high-current charging begins.

Why the Nokia 3128 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The 3128 uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its charge estimate from a stored discharge curve mapped to the original cell. When you fit a new cell, that curve no longer matches actual cell behaviour. The IC keeps referencing stale data, so the percentage reading drifts — often showing full charge well before the cell is actually topped up. One complete discharge and full charge cycle forces the IC to re-map against the new cell and restores accurate reporting.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the new cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — typically during a call, when the modem and screen draw current simultaneously. The BMS reads that voltage dip as a low-cell event and trips the cutoff before the OS can log a graceful shutdown. It is not a faulty battery — it is the fuel gauge IC misreading state-of-charge because it has not yet recalibrated. Run two full discharge-charge cycles and monitor percentage; it should stabilise above 3.5V under normal load.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Nokia 3128 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for months — is the battery dead?

Likely not dead, but the BMS has tripped into lockout after the cell discharged below 2.5V during storage. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell long enough to bring it above the BMS re-enable threshold before the phone will respond. If the screen shows no charge indicator after 40 minutes on mains power, the cell has deep-discharged past recovery.

Battery percentage jumps around erratically — shows 60%, then drops to 15% within minutes on the Nokia 3128.

The fuel gauge IC on the 3128 is still running its coulomb counter against the old cell's discharge profile. A fresh cell has a slightly different internal resistance and voltage curve, so the IC misreads charge state under varying load. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Fully drain the phone until it shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — repeat this once more and the IC will anchor its readings to the new curve.

Fast charging stopped working after fitting the BL-5001C — the phone charges but only slowly.

On the first cycle after a cell swap, some Nokia charge ICs default to slow charge mode until they complete a handshake with the new battery's temperature sense line. Confirm the three-pin connector is fully seated — a partially connected temp pin registers as an open circuit and the IC drops to trickle rate as a safety measure. Reseat the connector, reboot the phone, and plug into the original charger. Normal charge rate should resume once the IC confirms a valid temp reading.
