Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia 6340 / 8260 / 8290 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BLB-3)

This is a 3.7V 900mAh Li-ion replacement for the Nokia BLB-3 cell. It fits the Nokia 6340, 6340i, 8260, 8290, and several other models that share the same form factor and connector. Dimensions are 52.89 × 33.28 × 7.33mm — a direct physical match to the original cell bay.

  • 6340, 8260, 8290 platform compatibility: These models share the BLB-3 footprint, voltage rail, and contact layout. The same connector orientation and BMS communication protocol runs across all of them, so one cell covers the group without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Nokia 8260. The BMS accepted the charge handshake on the first cycle, protection thresholds triggered correctly at the expected voltage floor, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking within the first full discharge.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installation, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before enabling any fast-charge mode. This gives the fuel gauge IC a clean reference curve against the new cell — skipping this step is the main cause of erratic percentage readings on Nokia devices.

Why the Nokia 6340 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

Nokia's fuel gauge IC builds its capacity model from the discharge history of the cell it first calibrated against. When you swap in a new cell, that stored model no longer matches the actual discharge curve. The gauge reads against the old curve, so the percentage it displays drifts from the true state of charge. One full discharge-charge cycle overwrites the reference data and brings the display back into alignment with the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity problem. Under load — an active call, backlight at full, or network search — the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge expects. When the cell voltage hits the BMS cutoff threshold, the phone shuts off even though the displayed percentage still looks safe. The fix is completing that first full calibration cycle so the gauge IC maps the actual voltage-to-capacity curve of the new cell. After one proper cycle, the shutdown point and the displayed percentage track together at roughly 3.4–3.5V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Nokia 6340 turned off at 25% and now won't power back on — is the new battery dead?

The cell hit its BMS lockout voltage under load before the fuel gauge had calibrated to the new discharge curve. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for at least 20 minutes without trying to power it on — the BMS needs a trickle current to bring the cell voltage back above the 3.0V recovery threshold before the phone will boot. Once it powers on, run a full discharge-charge cycle to sync the gauge IC to the new cell.

The battery percentage is jumping around — shows 60%, drops to 40%, then jumps back up — what's happening?

The fuel gauge IC on these Nokia handsets is still reading against the old cell's discharge curve stored in memory. The new cell has a slightly different voltage-to-capacity relationship, so the gauge misreads the state of charge and the displayed number bounces. Run one complete discharge to automatic shutoff, then charge straight to 100% without interruption — this gives the coulomb counter a clean full-range sample to rebuild its reference curve against.

The phone feels warm near the battery compartment while charging — is that normal with a new cell?

A new Li-ion cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates a little more heat during the constant-current phase of the first few cycles. This is expected and fades after three to five full cycles as the cell's impedance settles. If the phone is too hot to hold comfortably, or warmth continues past the fifth charge cycle, check that the charge IC is not stuck in fast-charge mode — drop to standard charge rate and monitor the temperature at the 50% mark.
