Fits Nokia E90, E61i, E71, E90i and 15 additional Nokia Symbian models with factory battery connector.
3.7V, 1500mAh capacity restores full charge cycles on aging E90 units that previously shut down mid-day.
Battery slides into the original slot with standard Nokia connector — no adapter needed, locking tab seats flush.
We ran discharge cycles on a used E90 motherboard; the BMS accepted charge without fault codes and held voltage stable under call load.
On first power-up after installation, let the phone complete one full discharge-to-shutdown cycle without removing the battery — the fuel gauge IC needs to map the new cell's discharge curve before reporting accurate percentage.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Nokia E90 Communicator Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion battery for the Nokia E90 Communicator and related Eseries smartphones including the E61i, E71, and E90i. It fits the shared battery bay across these models, which use the same cell format and connector. Install it when the original cell can no longer hold charge through a full working day.

  • Eseries shared cell platform: The E90, E61i, E71, and E90i all draw from the same 3.7V Li-ion cell format with identical contact placement and BMS handshake protocol — that is why one replacement covers all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on an E90 unit. The BMS accepted the charge sequence without error flags, and the protection circuit tripped correctly at the low-voltage threshold during deep-discharge testing.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The E90's fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve — skipping this step leaves the percentage readout unreliable for several cycles.

Why the E90 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The E90 uses a coulomb-counting fuel gauge IC that builds its model of cell capacity over repeated cycles. When you swap the physical cell, the IC still references discharge curves logged against the old, degraded cell. The new cell has higher actual capacity, so the percentage readout collapses faster than reality in early cycles. One full uninterrupted discharge-charge cycle forces the IC to reset its reference baseline against the new cell's actual voltage profile.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops sharply under load — the WCDMA radio and screen backlight together can pull enough current to cause a voltage cliff before the percentage gauge reaches zero. The BMS triggers a hard cutoff when cell voltage falls below roughly 3.0V under that combined load, even if the reported percentage still looks safe. The fix is to complete the fuel gauge recalibration cycle described above — accurate calibration moves the software shutdown threshold to match the cell's real voltage floor. If shutdowns persist after two full cycles, check that the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making full contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

My E90 shuts off at around 25% battery — is this a faulty cell?

Not necessarily a fault — it is almost always a fuel gauge IC that has not yet recalibrated to the new cell's discharge curve. The old curve logged by the IC had a steeper voltage drop at low charge, so the phone cuts out before the actual cell is empty. Run one full uninterrupted discharge to auto-shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. After that single cycle the percentage readout and the shutdown threshold should align with the new cell's real capacity.

The E90 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat unused for several months — what happened?

Extended storage at a low state of charge can push the cell below 2.5V, which triggers a BMS lockout to prevent damage — the phone will not respond to the power button in this state. Connect the charger and leave it for at least 30–45 minutes without pressing anything; the protection circuit needs a trickle current to recover before normal charging begins. If the charging indicator appears within that window, the cell is recovering — let it reach a full charge before first use. If no indicator appears after an hour, the cell has dropped below the BMS recovery threshold.

The battery percentage jumps erratically — it reads 60%, then skips to 80%, then drops to 40% within minutes. What causes this?

This is the fuel gauge IC actively recalibrating against the new cell after it spent its previous cycles modelling a degraded original battery. The coulomb counter's stored discharge table no longer matches the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve, so the percentage output is inconsistent until the IC collects fresh data. It typically stabilises after two to three complete discharge-charge cycles. Do not interrupt charges during those first cycles — partial charges extend the recalibration period.
