Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Vertu Constellation Quest — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh Li-ion cell built to replace the original battery in the Vertu Constellation Quest. The Constellation Quest is a luxury touchscreen smartphone, and this battery restores power to aging or degraded units. Fit dimensions are 65.80 × 43.90 × 5.10mm — confirm these against your original cell before installing.

  • Constellation Quest platform fit: The Constellation Quest uses a single fixed-format Li-ion cell connected directly to an internal charge IC. The connector pinout, cell dimensions, and BMS voltage thresholds must match the original exactly — this cell meets those specifications.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on compatible hardware. The BMS accepted the full 4.2V charge ceiling and held a stable output voltage across screen-on and modem-active load states.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging is applied to an uncalibrated cell.

Why the Constellation Quest reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The Constellation Quest uses a fuel gauge IC that builds its charge estimate from the old cell's discharge curve stored in memory. When a new cell goes in, that stored curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship. The result is a percentage readout that drifts or reads high early and then drops suddenly. One full discharge-charge cycle — down to automatic shutdown, then a complete charge to 100% — forces the fuel gauge IC to relearn the curve against the new cell.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This happens when the cell voltage drops below the phone's minimum operating threshold under a high-draw load — typically the modem transmitting or the display at full brightness. The fuel gauge still shows 20–30% because it's reading average voltage, not instantaneous voltage under load. The cell cannot sustain voltage under that spike, so the phone shuts down as a protective measure. After a full calibration cycle, the fuel gauge maps this voltage cliff correctly and the shutdown point drops to the expected near-zero level.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Constellation Quest shut down at around 25% after fitting the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve and cannot predict the new cell's voltage drop under modem or screen load. The phone cuts out when instantaneous voltage sags below the shutdown threshold, even though the displayed percentage looks healthy. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the fuel gauge will remap the cutoff correctly.

The phone won't power on at all after the new battery sat in storage before fitting — how do I recover it?

If the cell discharged below approximately 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and blocks normal charge current. Connect the phone to a low-current charger — a standard 5V USB wall adapter, not a fast charger — and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC uses a trickle-current recovery mode to bring the cell voltage back above the 2.5V BMS re-enable threshold before normal charging resumes.

Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery — the phone charges slowly on the same charger that was fast-charging before.

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the USB-PD or proprietary charge protocol handshake can fail because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed an initial negotiation with the phone's charge IC. The phone defaults to standard 5V input as a safety fallback. Complete one full charge at standard rate, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — on the second cycle the charge IC re-initiates the fast-charge handshake and normal charging speed returns.
