Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SCH-A930 / SPH-A960 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (AB553446GABSTD)
This is a 3.7V 850mAh Li-ion cell replacing the original battery in Samsung's early flip phone lineup. It fits the SCH-A930, SPH-A960, SCH-A990, and SPH-A640 among others. Voltage and physical dimensions match OEM spec — 49.50 × 33.80 × 4.70mm.
- Cross-model fit — SCH and SPH series: These Samsung flip phones share the same battery footprint, connector orientation, and 3.7V single-cell architecture. The AB553446GA cell family was used across both CDMA variants, so one part number covers the full group without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and charge on the SCH-A930. The BMS accepted charge from a standard 5V source without tripping into protection mode, and the phone powered through startup without a low-voltage cutoff event.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After installing a fresh cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% before normal use. The phone's fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the wear curve of the old cell — skipping this step causes erratic percentage readings from the first day.
Why the SCH-A930 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
Samsung's flip phone fuel gauge IC builds a discharge model based on how the installed cell behaves over repeated cycles. When you replace the cell, that internal model still reflects the old battery's degraded curve — not the new one. The gauge then misreads state-of-charge, often showing 100% for too long then dropping sharply. One full discharge-charge cycle forces the IC to relearn the new cell's actual voltage-to-capacity relationship and corrects the display.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This happens when the fuel gauge IC still maps the old cell's steep voltage cliff onto the new cell. The phone reads 25% remaining but the uncalibrated gauge misses the actual cutoff threshold, and the processor shuts down to protect the cell. It is not a defective battery — it is a calibration mismatch. Force a full discharge to automatic shutdown, charge back to 100% without interruption, and the cutoff behaviour corrects itself. After that cycle, the gauge trips the shutdown closer to the true 3.0V per cell floor.

Frequently Asked Questions
My SCH-A930 won't turn on at all after sitting in a drawer for two years — is the battery dead?
Most likely the BMS has locked out the cell after self-discharge dropped it below 2.5V. A standard charger will not wake a cell in deep-discharge lockout. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — some chargers trickle enough current to bring the cell back above the BMS re-enable threshold of around 2.8V. If the phone still shows nothing after that, replace the cell entirely, as a cell held below 2.5V for extended storage often cannot recover stable capacity.
The phone feels warm near the battery compartment during the first few charges — is that normal?
A new high-impedance cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC dissipates more heat during the first few cycles. That warmth is normal and typically settles after two or three full charge cycles as the cell's internal resistance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch — not just warm — remove it from charge immediately and check that the charger output matches 5V. Warmth that fades after the first few cycles is not a fault.
The battery percentage jumps around erratically — showing 60%, then 80%, then 45% within minutes — what's causing that?
The coulomb counter and fuel gauge IC are recalibrating against a new cell discharge curve they have never seen before. The old calibration data was built on a degraded cell with a compressed voltage range; the new cell has a wider swing, and the gauge cannot place itself accurately on that curve yet. Run one uninterrupted discharge to automatic shutdown followed by a full charge to 100% without unplugging early. After that single cycle the percentage readings stabilise as the IC locks onto the correct discharge profile.
