Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Sprint VIA820 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 3.7V, 750mAh Li-ion cell for the Sprint VIA820 smartphone. It fits directly into the VIA820 battery bay and connects to the same charge IC and fuel gauge circuit as the original. Capacity is rated at 2.78Wh — use the figure from this listing, not third-party sources.
- VIA820 platform fit: The VIA820 uses a single-cell Li-ion pack with a 3.7V nominal rail. The connector pinout and BMS communication lines match the original charge IC handshake, so the phone recognises the new cell without any hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a VIA820 unit. The BMS accepted charge current normally, protection circuits triggered correctly at voltage floor, and no thermal flags were raised during the charge phase.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle before normal use. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before drawing high current into an uncalibrated cell.
Why the VIA820 reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap
The VIA820 uses a coulomb counter tied to the original cell's discharge profile. When a new cell goes in, that stored profile no longer matches the actual voltage-to-capacity curve of the replacement. The phone reads state-of-charge from a map it built around a degraded or different cell, so percentages can appear inflated or deflated. One full uninterrupted discharge cycle down to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge, forces the fuel gauge IC to relearn the curve against the new cell.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell
This is a voltage cliff problem, not a capacity problem. Under modem transmit or screen-on load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge predicts, crossing the BMS cutoff threshold while the display still shows charge remaining. It happens most often in the first few cycles before the fuel gauge recalibrates. Run two full discharge-charge cycles without interruption — if shutdowns persist past that, check resting cell voltage with a meter; it should sit at or above 3.7V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The VIA820 won't turn on at all after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few weeks — is the cell dead?
Likely not dead, but the BMS has tripped into lockout. If the cell voltage dropped below 2.5V during storage, the protection circuit cuts output to prevent damage. Plug the phone into a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for at least 20 minutes without attempting to power on. If the charge IC can trickle enough current past the BMS, the cell will recover; a stable 3.7V at rest confirms it has.
Fast charging worked fine before I swapped the battery — now it just charges slowly every time. What changed?
The USB-PD or proprietary fast-charge handshake runs through the BMS, and a new cell's BMS often defaults to standard current on the first cycle until it completes one full charge. This is normal behaviour. Run one complete charge from near-empty to 100% on a standard charger, then try your fast charger again — the BMS should accept the higher current rate from the second cycle onward.
The battery percentage on the VIA820 jumps around erratically — goes from 45% to 62% without charging. What's causing it?
The fuel gauge IC is still reading from the discharge curve it built around the old cell. The new cell has a different internal resistance and voltage profile, so the coulomb counter mismaps state-of-charge at mid-range. Let the phone discharge fully until it shuts itself off, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the device. After that single calibration cycle, percentage readings typically stabilise within a few percent of actual capacity.
