Fits Samsung SGH-X708 candybar phones and restores power to original OEM battery slot without adapter.
3.7V, 850mAh lithium-ion cell delivers standard talk and standby runtime for early 2000s Samsung handsets.
Connector seats flat into original battery compartment with no tabs or alignment pins required.
We bench-tested this cell on SGH-X708 hardware — BMS accepted charge within two cycles, voltage held stable under call load.
On first use after installation, run one complete discharge-charge cycle before heavy calling — the fuel gauge IC needs to recalibrate against this cell's discharge curve to prevent early shutdown at 20-30% remaining battery.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung SGH-X708 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This is a 3.7V 850mAh Li-ion battery for the Samsung SGH-X708 candybar mobile phone. It replaces the original cell when the existing battery no longer holds a charge, swells, or fails to power the device. Dimensions are 62.00 × 36.70 × 8.42mm — confirm against your existing cell before fitting.

  • SGH-X708 fit: The X708 uses a compact rectangular Li-ion cell at 3.7V nominal. This replacement matches that voltage rail and physical footprint so the battery door closes flush and the contact pins seat correctly.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full discharge and charge sequences, confirming the BMS holds charge termination at the correct cutoff voltage and does not trip prematurely under typical phone load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: After fitting this cell, run one complete discharge down to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% without interruption. The SGH-X708 fuel gauge IC needs this full cycle to map its coulomb counter to the new cell's discharge curve — skipping it causes the percentage indicator to jump or read incorrectly.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the SGH-X708 after a cell swap

The X708's fuel gauge IC retains the discharge curve of the old cell after a swap. When the phone hits a load spike — a call connecting, backlight turning on — the new cell's actual voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the gauge reads zero. The phone shuts off while the display still shows charge remaining. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the coulomb counter and eliminates this behaviour.

Phone feels warm near the battery during the first charge after replacement

A new high-impedance cell has slightly higher internal resistance than a broken-in cell. During the first charge cycle, the charge IC pushes current into that resistance, generating more heat than usual. This is normal for the first one or two cycles and reduces as the cell's internal resistance settles. If the back of the phone stays noticeably warm beyond the second full charge, check that the battery is seated flat with no contact between the cell and the chassis edge.

Frequently Asked Questions

My SGH-X708 shuts off suddenly when I'm mid-call even though the battery shows 25% — what's happening?

The fuel gauge IC is still reading from the old cell's discharge curve, so the percentage shown doesn't match the new cell's actual voltage. Under the current load of an active call, the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff before the counter reaches zero. Run one full discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the coulomb counter to the new cell's curve and the shutdowns stop.

After fitting the new battery, the percentage jumps around erratically — it went from 60% to 40% in two minutes without me doing anything.

The X708's fuel gauge IC is recalibrating after the cell swap. It lost its reference point when the old cell was removed, and erratic readings are normal until it completes one full cycle. Let the phone discharge to automatic shutdown, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session. After that cycle the percentage reading stabilises.

My SGH-X708 won't power on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the new cell dead?

If a Li-ion cell drops below roughly 2.5V during storage, the BMS enters a lockout state and the phone will not respond to a normal power-on attempt. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button — the charge IC needs time to trickle current into the cell before the BMS releases its lockout. Once the cell recovers to approximately 3.0V, the phone will power on normally.
