Fits Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro model 2409BRN2CA and related variants, replacing OEM battery part number BN5X.
3.84V and 4750mAh lithium-polymer cell matches the original pack capacity for full charge cycles.
Connector is soldered directly to the device motherboard; no physical connector type or locking tab involved.
We bench-tested the BN5X pack across five charge cycles; the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell without lockout or early cutoff.
On first use after installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle so the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell discharge curve.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro — 3.84V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BN5X)

This is a 3.84V, 4750mAh (18.24Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 Pro. It fits models 2409BRN2CA, 2409BRN2CC, 2409BRN2CG, and 2409BRN2CL, among others. OEM part number BN5X confirms direct fitment to this handset.

  • Redmi Note 9 Pro platform fitment: These model variants share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The BN5X part number is consistent across the regional hardware revisions listed, so one cell covers all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Redmi Note 9 Pro unit. The BMS accepted the cell on first connection, charge IC negotiated correctly, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge without manual intervention.
  • First-cycle fuel gauge recalibration tip: After installation, disable fast charging for one complete discharge-charge cycle. The fuel gauge IC is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. Running one full cycle at standard charge current lets the coulomb counter reset its reference points before high-current fast charging pushes into an uncalibrated cell.

Why the Redmi Note 9 Pro reports wrong battery percentage after a cell swap

The fuel gauge IC on this phone stores a learned discharge curve from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the IC still references that old curve. This causes the percentage readout to lag behind actual cell voltage — the phone may report 40% while the cell is already below a stable load voltage. One full discharge-charge cycle at standard current forces the coulomb counter to rebuild its reference map against the new cell. After that cycle, percentage accuracy stabilises.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the replacement cell

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a capacity fault. Under high load — active LTE, screen at full brightness, GPS — the cell voltage drops sharply. The phone's protection circuit shuts down when voltage sags below its threshold, even if the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The old cell had enough internal impedance history for the IC to anticipate this sag. With a new cell, the IC has no sag model yet. Run two full discharge-charge cycles to give the fuel gauge enough data to predict voltage behaviour under load, and the premature shutdowns will stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Redmi Note 9 Pro won't turn on after the new battery sat in a drawer for a few months — is the cell dead?

Probably not dead, but the BMS has locked the cell out. Lithium-polymer cells in storage self-discharge, and if the voltage dropped below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS trips a deep-discharge lockout to prevent damage. Connect the phone to a charger and leave it for at least 30–45 minutes without attempting to power it on — the charge IC needs to trickle current into the cell before the BMS will release the lockout. Once the cell climbs back above 3.0V, the phone will boot normally.

Fast charging stopped working after I installed the replacement battery — the phone only slow-charges now.

This happens on the first charge cycle after a cell swap. The phone's USB-PD or Xiaomi proprietary fast charge protocol requires a handshake between the charge IC and the BMS. On a fresh cell, that negotiation sometimes defaults to standard 5V charging until the BMS has completed one full cycle and confirmed the cell's internal resistance profile. Charge the phone fully once at standard speed, then reboot and reconnect the charger — the fast charge protocol should re-negotiate correctly from the second cycle onward.

The phone feels warm near the battery area while charging — is that normal with a new cell?

Some warmth is expected on the first few charge cycles with a new lithium-polymer cell. A fresh cell has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in one, so the charge IC pushes voltage across a higher resistance, which generates more heat than usual. It should reduce noticeably after three to five full charge cycles as impedance drops. If the phone becomes hot to the touch or the charge IC triggers a thermal pause, check that the replacement cell dimensions match — 97.20 x 65.80 x 4.00mm — as an oversized cell can restrict airflow inside the chassis.
