Fits Apple MacBook Air 13-inch MREE2CH/A and replaces OEM part A1965.
11.4V and 4800mAh capacity delivers 54.72Wh — matches original output for full-load computing sessions.
Li-Polymer cell slides into the internal battery slot with no connector swap needed.
We ran full discharge cycles on the bench; BMS held voltage steady under sustained CPU load before cutoff.
After installation, run one full discharge to sleep mode then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings that appear after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Apple MacBook Air 13 (A1965) — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This is an 11.4V, 4800mAh (54.72Wh) Li-Polymer battery for the Apple MacBook Air 13-inch. It fits models including MREE2CH/A, MRE92CH/A, MREC2CH/A, and MRE82CH/A, among others. OEM part numbers covered include A1965, 020-02459, 020-02455, and 661-11676.

  • MacBook Air 13 mid-2018 and 2019 compatibility: These models share a common 11.4V three-cell Li-Polymer architecture, identical connector pinout, and the same SMC battery handshake protocol — which is why a single cell works across all variants in this generation.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on MacBook Air 13 hardware. The SMC recognised the battery, accepted a charge from 0V, and BMS protections tripped correctly at the expected low-voltage cutoff threshold.
  • SMC learn cycle after install: After fitting this cell, run the machine down until it hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without use. This resets the SMC battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health or low-capacity warning macOS shows after any cell swap.

Why macOS reports poor battery health immediately after swapping the A1965 cell

The MacBook Air's SMC stores charge history and cycle count data tied to the previous cell's EEPROM profile. When a new cell goes in, the SMC reads a mismatch between its stored data and the new cell's reported state, flagging health as degraded or unknown. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is the SMC reacting to unfamiliar EEPROM data. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge gives the SMC enough data to re-baseline its fuel gauge against the new cell.

MacBook Air shutting down at 20–30% charge remaining

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The SMC shuts the system down the moment cell voltage drops below its safety threshold — even if the displayed percentage still reads high. Under combined CPU and display load, voltage sag can hit that cutoff faster than the gauge expects on an uncalibrated cell. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles to let the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's real voltage cliff, and the shutdowns will stop.

Frequently Asked Questions

My MacBook Air shows the replacement A1965 battery as "Service Recommended" in System Information — is the cell faulty?

It is not a faulty cell. The SMC carried over cycle count and health data from the old battery's EEPROM, so the new cell looks degraded before it has run a single cycle. Run one full discharge until the Mac hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the SMC re-baselines and the "Service Recommended" flag clears.

System Information is reporting a different Wh rating than the 54.72Wh spec — why does the number not match?

The Wh figure shown in System Information is pulled from the cell's EEPROM register, which stores the manufacturer's rated value and may differ slightly from the calculated voltage-times-capacity figure in the product listing. This is a data reporting difference, not a capacity defect. The cell delivers its full rated energy regardless of what the EEPROM register displays. No action needed — the discrepancy does not affect charging or system behaviour.

The MacBook Air charges to 80% and then stops — is the charge limit coming from the battery?

This is a firmware behaviour, not a battery fault. Apple's Optimised Battery Charging feature in macOS learns your usage pattern and intentionally holds charge at 80% to reduce cell stress. The replacement cell has no role in setting that limit. To confirm, go to System Preferences → Battery → uncheck "Optimised Battery Charging" and the Mac will charge to 100%.
