Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Avita Essential NE14A2 — 7.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PT3165115-2S)
This is a 7.4V 3200mAh (23.68Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the Avita Essential NE14A2 14-inch notebook. It matches OEM part number PT3165115-2S and fits directly into the NE14A2 chassis. Install it when the original cell no longer holds charge or fails to power the laptop off the wall.
- NE14A2 fitment: The NE14A2 uses a slim 4.00mm-profile Li-Polymer pack on a 7.4V two-cell rail. This replacement matches that connector pinout and physical envelope — 230.80 × 63.00 × 4.00mm — so the pack seats flush without case modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and load discharge on the NE14A2 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the system EC, and the pack reached full rated capacity without triggering a thermal or voltage-fault cutoff.
- Post-install calibration on the NE14A2: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle on the NE14A2 and clears the inaccurate health warning the EC logs after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health on the NE14A2 after swap
The NE14A2 embedded controller reads health data from the battery's EEPROM on first boot after installation. That EEPROM data reflects the new cell's factory state, which the EC hasn't learned yet — so it flags health as poor or unknown. This isn't a fault with the replacement cell. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% gives the EC one complete learn cycle and clears the warning. If the health flag persists after two full cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated.
NE14A2 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC hasn't calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge reads a percentage based on the old cell's discharge profile, so it loses accuracy near the low end — the laptop hits the cell's real voltage floor before the OS expects it. The fix is two full calibration cycles: discharge to hibernate-cutoff each time, then charge to 100% without interruption. After the second cycle, the fuel gauge IC maps the new curve and the shutdown-at-30% behaviour stops. Target cell voltage at hibernate cutoff is approximately 6.0V.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Avita Essential NE14A2 shows the battery Wh rating as wrong in system info after I swapped the cell — is something broken?
The Wh figure shown in system info comes from the EEPROM on the battery pack, and the value the EC reads on first boot is the factory-rated figure, not a live measured value. The NE14A2's embedded controller hasn't run a learn cycle against the new cell yet, so the number looks off. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate and an uninterrupted charge to 100% — after that cycle the EC updates its stored Wh figure to match the actual cell.
My NE14A2 stops charging at 80% and never reaches 100% — is the replacement battery faulty?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a battery fault. Some Avita NE14A2 firmware versions ship with a battery longevity mode enabled that caps charge at 80%. Go into the BIOS setup utility, look under Power or Battery settings, and disable any charge threshold or battery care mode. If no such setting appears, check whether any pre-installed Avita utility software is enforcing the limit from within the OS — disable it there and reboot.
The fuel gauge on the NE14A2 jumps erratically — showing 60%, then 45%, then 55% within minutes — after installing the new battery. What causes that?
The fuel gauge IC on the NE14A2 uses a stored discharge model to estimate remaining capacity. When a new cell with a different actual voltage curve is installed, the IC is still running calculations against the old model, so percentage readings swing until it re-learns the curve. This corrects itself after two complete calibration cycles — each cycle means discharging fully to hibernate-cutoff, then charging uninterrupted to 100%. After the second cycle, the gauge IC locks onto the new cell's curve and readings stabilise.
