Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad P14S Gen3 / T14 Gen3 — 11.58V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L21C3P71)
This 11.58V, 3000mAh (34.74Wh) Li-Polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Lenovo ThinkPad P14S Gen3 and ThinkPad T14 Gen3. It covers OEM part numbers L21C3P71, L21D3P71, L21L3P71, L21M3P71, SB10W51961, and SB10W51963. These are 14-inch professional laptops used in engineering and design workflows.
- ThinkPad P14S Gen3 and T14 Gen3 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The same 11.58V three-cell Li-Polymer pack satisfies the BIOS authentication check on both platforms without triggering an unrecognised-battery warning.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a ThinkPad T14 Gen3 chassis. The BMS reported full charge at 12.54V and initiated discharge cutoff at 9.0V. BIOS battery status cleared to normal after two complete cycles.
- BIOS learn cycle after install: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health or low-capacity warning that appears after every cell swap on ThinkPad platforms.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after replacement
ThinkPad BIOS reads health metrics stored in the old cell's EEPROM and compares them against the new cell's reported state. A fresh cell with no cycle history can trigger a false "poor health" or "replace soon" flag because the EEPROM baseline does not match. This is a calibration issue, not a cell defect. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — the BIOS learn cycle rewrites the baseline and the warning clears.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap
The fuel gauge IC on the ThinkPad motherboard estimates remaining capacity using data built up from previous cycles on the old cell. With a new cell installed, that model is wrong from the start. Under full CPU and display load, the system hits a voltage cliff the gauge did not predict and shuts down to protect the hardware. Charge to 100% uninterrupted, let the battery discharge fully to hibernate once, then charge back to 100% — after two to three cycles the fuel gauge recalibrates against the new cell and the early-shutdown stops.

Frequently Asked Questions
My ThinkPad P14S Gen3 shows 0% or "unknown battery" in Windows right after I installed the new cell — is the battery dead?
The fuel gauge IC on the motherboard is still reading EEPROM data from the old cell and has no valid model for the new one yet. Charge the new battery uninterrupted to 100%, then let it discharge fully to the hibernate cutoff point. After one to two complete cycles the fuel gauge builds a new capacity model and the OS reading stabilises. If Windows still shows 0% after two cycles, check BIOS under Config → Power → Battery Information — it should read the cell voltage directly at around 11.1–12.5V.
The system info screen shows a lower Wh rating than the original battery — did I receive the wrong cell?
The Wh figure shown in system info is read from the EEPROM of the installed cell, and fresh replacement cells ship with a rated value that can differ slightly from the original's logged value. This 3000mAh cell is rated at 34.74Wh — if your system reports a different number, the EEPROM value and the BIOS-logged original do not match, which is normal across different OEM part revisions (L21C3P71 through L21M3P71 are all valid for this platform). The actual delivered capacity aligns with the rated spec after the first full calibration cycle.
Charging stops at 80% and will not go higher — is the new battery faulty?
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Lenovo ThinkPad firmware includes a Conservation Mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Check Lenovo Vantage under Power → Battery Settings and confirm Conservation Mode is switched off. Once disabled, plug in and charge — the battery will charge to 100%.
