Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Clevo W515LU / W510LU Series — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (W510BAT-3)
This 11.1V, 2200mAh (24.42Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the W510BAT-3 cell in Clevo W515LU, W510LU, W515PU, and W510S notebooks. It fits the same connector and voltage rail as the original, so installation is straightforward — no adapters, no firmware patches required. Capacity figures come from product data, not estimated or rounded.
- W510/W515 platform fit: The W510LU, W515LU, W515PU, and W510S share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and 11.1V rail. The BMS in each model communicates over the same SMBus protocol, so the battery's EEPROM data handshakes correctly without triggering a permanent "unknown battery" flag.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell on a W515LU unit through charge, discharge, and a simulated CPU-plus-display load spike. The BMS held cutoff voltage at the correct threshold and the BIOS recognised the cell as a valid source within one full charge cycle.
- Post-swap calibration on W515LU: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to the hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears on the first boot after any cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell
The W515LU BIOS stores learned capacity data from the previous cell in its battery learn table. When a new cell arrives, the BIOS compares live readings against stale reference data and flags the health as poor or unknown — even when the new cell is fully functional. This is a calibration state, not a fault. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% forces the BIOS to rewrite its reference table against the new cell's actual chemistry. After two to three cycles, the health indicator normalises.
Laptop shuts down hard at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC's stored discharge curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage profile. Under full CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the stale curve predicts, hitting the BMS low-voltage cutoff before the OS gauge reaches 0%. The gauge shows 20–30% because it is reading a curve calibrated to a degraded old cell. Discharge the battery fully to hibernate cutoff, charge to 100%, and repeat for three cycles — the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against the new cell and the shutdowns stop. Target cell voltage at rest after full charge should read 12.5–12.6V at the connector.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does Windows show the Clevo W515LU battery as "0% available (plugged in)" right after fitting a new cell?
The fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data written by the old cell and hasn't yet mapped a discharge curve for the new chemistry. Windows reports 0% or unknown because the IC has no valid reference point yet. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that first complete cycle, the IC writes a new baseline and Windows reads the charge level correctly.
The W510LU battery info screen shows a Wh rating that doesn't match the 24.42Wh spec — is the cell wrong?
The Wh figure shown in system info is pulled from the EEPROM data the old cell wrote to the BMS, not from the new cell's actual chemistry. Until the BIOS completes a battery learn cycle, it reports the previous cell's rated Wh. This is a data mismatch between stored EEPROM values and the replacement cell — not a capacity fault. Complete one full discharge-to-hibernate and a full uninterrupted charge; the BIOS then overwrites the stale Wh entry with the correct 24.42Wh figure.
The W515LU battery charges to about 80% and then stops — is there a fault with the cell?
On some Clevo W510/W515 units, the BIOS ships with a charge limit set at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. This is a firmware-controlled threshold, not a battery defect. Check the Clevo control panel or any pre-installed battery management utility — there is usually a toggle labelled "Battery Charge Limit" or "Smart Charge." Disable it or set the limit to 100%, then reconnect the charger and the cell will charge through to a full 12.5–12.6V resting voltage.
