Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Maingear 15RX — 14.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery
This 14.8V 4000mAh (59.2Wh) lithium-polymer cell is a direct replacement for the Maingear 15RX notebook. It fits the 15RX chassis and restores full portable operation after the original cell has degraded or failed. No OEM part number is published for this battery; match by model number and dimensions before ordering.
- 15RX platform fit: The 15RX uses a 14.8V four-cell Li-Polymer pack with a specific connector pinout and BMS handshake. This replacement matches that voltage rail and communication protocol so the BIOS registers the pack rather than flagging an unknown device.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge-discharge sequences and monitored the BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit tripped correctly at low-voltage cutoff and the charge controller accepted full current without throttling.
- Post-install calibration cycle: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff — do not force shutdown — then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This gives the fuel gauge IC a full reference sweep against the new chemistry and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears in the BIOS after every cell swap.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after fitting the new cell
The Maingear 15RX BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM. A new cell ships with factory EEPROM values that don't match the discharge history the BIOS expects to see from a known-good pack. This mismatch triggers the poor health flag even though the cell is new. Run one full learn cycle — discharge to hibernate, then charge to 100% without interruption — and the BIOS will rewrite its reference data against the new cell.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% shown on the gauge
This is a voltage cliff failure, not a gauge error. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can update the state-of-charge estimate. The system hits the hardware low-voltage cutoff while the OS still shows charge remaining. After completing the calibration cycle described above, the gauge IC maps the voltage curve of the new cell accurately. If the shutdowns continue past two full calibration cycles, check that the BIOS power profile is not set to an aggressive performance mode that spikes CPU draw beyond what the pack can sustain at low charge states.

Frequently Asked Questions
The Maingear 15RX BIOS shows 0% and won't recognise the new battery at all — what's wrong?
The BIOS is reading EEPROM authentication data from the pack and failing to match it against an expected signature. Seat the battery connector firmly — a partial connection breaks the data lines while the power pins still make contact, which returns a 0% or unknown reading. If reseating doesn't clear it, boot into BIOS setup, let it sit on the battery info screen for 60 seconds, then do a cold reboot. That forces the BIOS to re-poll the pack rather than read cached values from the previous cell.
The fuel gauge on the 15RX is jumping around — showing 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes of each other. Is the battery faulty?
The fuel gauge IC calibrates its state-of-charge model against a known discharge curve. A new cell has different internal resistance and capacity characteristics than the old one, so the IC's existing model is wrong and produces erratic readings for the first few cycles. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate then charge-to-100% cycles without interrupting the charge. After two full sweeps the IC recalculates its reference curve against the new chemistry and the gauge stabilises.
System info shows the 15RX battery as 47Wh but the replacement is rated 59.2Wh — why does the number look wrong?
The Wh figure displayed in system info is read from the EEPROM on the battery, not measured live. The old cell wrote its rated Wh into that register, and the OS cached it. After fitting the new cell, the new EEPROM value won't always propagate until the system completes a full charge cycle and the BMS pushes updated data to the host. Charge the pack to 100% from a low state and reboot — the reported Wh figure should update to 59.2Wh at that point.
