Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Medion Akoya E15403 — 7.6V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (4588105-2S)

This 7.6V, 6000mAh (45.6Wh) lithium-polymer battery replaces the original cell in the Medion Akoya E15403 laptop. It fits all MSN variants — 30026724, 30026726, 30026727 — and cross-references OEM part numbers 4588105-2S, 40071698, and 40072215. Voltage, connector, and physical footprint match the original spec at 245.60 x 106.10 x 5.10mm.

  • Akoya E15403 MSN variant coverage: All listed MSN variants share the same motherboard power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell part number covers the full production run. Swapping between MSN variants causes no compatibility issues.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the Akoya E15403 platform. The BMS negotiated correctly with the system firmware, and charge termination triggered cleanly at full capacity without overcharge events.
  • Post-install calibration on the E15403: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate-cutoff under normal use, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning the system throws after any cell swap.

Why the Akoya E15403 BIOS flags a new battery as poor health immediately after swap

The E15403 BIOS reads health status from EEPROM data embedded in the battery pack. When a new cell goes in, the EEPROM counter resets and the BIOS interprets that as degraded or unknown status — not a fault with the replacement. The fuel gauge IC also needs two to three full cycles to calibrate against the new cell chemistry. Until those cycles complete, health percentage and time-remaining figures will read inaccurately. Running the battery learn cycle clears this within a few charge sessions.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% shown on the gauge after battery replacement

This happens when the fuel gauge IC still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. The gauge thinks 25% remains, but the new cell's voltage curve doesn't match that expectation yet, so the system hits the low-voltage cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. It is a calibration gap, not a defective replacement. Discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff, charge to 100% uninterrupted, and repeat once more — the gauge will track the new cell accurately by the second or third cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Akoya E15403 BIOS shows "0% available (plugged in, charging)" after I put the new battery in — is something broken?

Nothing is broken. The BIOS lost its reference point when the old cell was removed and is reading the EEPROM on the new cell as uncalibrated. Let the laptop charge fully to 100% without interruption, then discharge to hibernate-cutoff under normal use. After one complete cycle the BIOS re-establishes its fuel gauge baseline and the percentage reads correctly.

My Akoya E15403 system info shows 38Wh for this battery but the spec says 45.6Wh — why is the Wh figure wrong?

The Wh value displayed in Windows or the BIOS pulls from the EEPROM's rated capacity field, which may carry a conservative factory figure from the original cell's firmware. The physical cell chemistry in this replacement delivers the full 45.6Wh; the discrepancy is a data mismatch between stored EEPROM values and actual cell capacity. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — some E15403 firmware revisions update the Wh field after calibration cycles complete.

Charging stops at around 80% and the Akoya E15403 won't go higher — is this a fault with the replacement cell?

This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Medion and some OEM firmware revisions include a battery care mode that caps charging at 80% to reduce cycle stress — it applies to any cell in the machine, new or old. Check the Medion Performance Center app or BIOS power settings for a "Battery Care Mode" or "Charge Limit" toggle and disable it to restore charging to 100%.
