Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Toshiba Portege 3010 / 3020 Series — 10.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (PA2457UR)
This is a 10.8V, 4400mAh (47.52Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Toshiba Portege 3010, 3015, 3020, and 3010CT notebook computers. It replaces OEM part numbers PA2457UR, PA2458UR, and PA2467UR. The connector, voltage rail, and BMS communication profile match the original cell pack used in these Portege models.
- Portege 3010 / 3015 / 3020 compatibility: These models share the same battery bay form factor, 10.8V rail requirement, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell pack covers all three. Swapping between them does not require a different firmware or connector adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge cycles on a Portege 3020 unit and monitored BMS cutoff thresholds. The protection circuit engaged correctly at both the low-voltage floor and high-voltage ceiling without error codes during the test sequence.
- First-cycle calibration on the Portege: After installing, run a full discharge down to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that almost always appears after a cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement
The Portege BIOS reads health data stored in the old cell's EEPROM and carries that data forward as a baseline. When a new cell is installed, the BIOS has no fresh learn-cycle data to compare against, so it flags the battery as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration gap. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a complete uninterrupted charge to 100%. After that single cycle, the BIOS recalibrates and the health warning clears.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's actual voltage curve. The gauge estimates remaining charge based on the old cell's profile, and the new cell hits its low-voltage cliff earlier than the IC predicts — triggering an abrupt shutdown before the display reaches 0%. The fix is two to three full discharge-and-charge calibration cycles. After those cycles, the fuel gauge IC builds an accurate model of the new cell and the premature shutdowns stop. Check that the cell voltage at shutdown is not below 9.5V — if it is, the BMS is cutting off correctly and calibration is all that is needed.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why does the Portege 3010 show 0% or "unknown battery" in Windows right after I install the new cell?
The Windows fuel gauge IC is reading EEPROM data from the old, depleted cell and has no reference point for the new one yet. This is a calibration gap, not a fault with the replacement. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that cycle, the fuel gauge recalibrates against the new cell and the 0% or unknown reading clears.
The system info screen shows the wrong Wh rating — it says 38Wh but the replacement cell is rated at 47.52Wh. Is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The Wh figure in system info is pulled from the EEPROM on the original battery pack, not measured live from the new cell. The EEPROM on the replacement is programmed with the rated chemistry value, but the BIOS may display a cached or calculated figure until the learn cycle runs. Complete one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by a full charge and the reported Wh value will update to reflect the actual cell capacity.
New battery charges fine but the Portege still says battery health is poor in the BIOS power settings — how do I clear it?
The BIOS health flag is written during the battery learn cycle using data from the previous cell. Until a new learn cycle completes, the BIOS has no fresh data and defaults to flagging poor health. Discharge the laptop fully until it hibernates on its own, then plug in and charge to 100% without interruption — do not use the laptop during the charge phase. One complete cycle is usually enough; if the flag persists after two cycles, check that the AC adapter is delivering the correct voltage at the tip before swapping anything else.
