This is a 14.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion replacement battery for the Toshiba Satellite M70-208 and related Satellite A and M series notebooks. It replaces OEM part PA3451U-1BRS (also listed as PABAS067). Fit models span 135+ Satellite variants sharing the same 14.4V four-cell architecture and connector pinout.

  • Satellite A and M series shared platform: The Satellite A100, A135, M70, and adjacent models use the same battery bay dimensions and voltage rail. A shared BMS handshake protocol means one cell fits across the entire family without firmware conflicts — provided the OEM part number matches PA3451U-1BRS or PABAS067.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Satellite M70 unit and monitored the BMS through a full charge cycle. The protection circuit held cutoff at 16.8V peak charge and recovered cleanly from a 10.8V low-state discharge without triggering a permanent lockout.
  • Post-install discharge cycle on Satellite notebooks: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the false "poor health" warning that appears in Toshiba Power Saver after every cell swap.

The Satellite M70 BIOS reads health data from EEPROM embedded in the original battery pack. A new cell carries different EEPROM cycle-count and capacity values, so the BIOS flags it as degraded on first boot — even when the cell is electrically sound. This is not a hardware fault. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the BIOS recalibrates its health threshold against the new cell's actual data. After one or two learn cycles, the health indicator returns to normal.

Satellite M70 Shutting Down Abruptly at 20–30% Charge Shown

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's discharge curve. The IC still references the old cell's voltage-to-capacity mapping, so it misreads remaining charge and cuts power before the true empty point. It is not a faulty battery. Run two complete discharge-to-hibernate cycles with the display at full brightness and a processor load running — this forces the fuel gauge IC to map the actual voltage cliff of the new chemistry. After two cycles, the reported percentage will align with real capacity at 3.0V per cell.

The Satellite M70 shows the wrong Wh rating in Toshiba Power Saver after I put this battery in — is the cell actually 31.68Wh or is the readout right?

The readout pulls Wh data from the EEPROM in the original pack, not from the new cell's actual chemistry. Our bench measurement confirmed this cell at 31.68Wh under a 0.5C discharge load. The figure in Power Saver will not match until the BIOS completes at least one full learn cycle. Run a full discharge to hibernate, charge uninterrupted to 100%, and the displayed Wh value will update to reflect the new cell.

New battery installed, laptop charges fine, but the fuel gauge jumps erratically — shows 67% then 45% then 80% within minutes of unplugging.

The fuel gauge IC on the Satellite M70 needs two to three calibration cycles before it can accurately track the discharge curve of a fresh cell. Until it completes those cycles, voltage readings bounce because the IC is still interpolating against the old cell's degraded profile. Run the laptop on battery with the display at maximum brightness and a consistent CPU load until it hibernates — do that twice consecutively. After the second full cycle, the gauge stabilises and tracks within 5% of actual remaining charge.

Toshiba Satellite A135 won't charge above 80% with this replacement battery — stops and shows "charging" indefinitely at that point.

This is a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a fault with the cell. Some Satellite A135 units ship with a charge-limit setting active in the Toshiba Power Saver utility that caps charging at 80% to reduce long-term cell stress. Open Toshiba Power Saver, navigate to the Battery section, and check whether "Eco Charge Mode" or a similar charge-limit option is enabled. Disable it, unplug and replug the adapter, and the battery will charge to 100%.
