Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Bitel IC5100 — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ICP05/34/50 2S1P)

This 7.4V 1100mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack in the Bitel IC5100 portable payment terminal. The IC5100 is a handheld POS device used for card transactions in retail and field environments. At 8.14Wh, this cell matches the original voltage rail and fits the existing battery compartment without modification.

  • IC5100 and IC 5100 compatibility: Both model references point to the same hardware platform. The connector pinout, BMS handshake protocol, and 7.4V nominal voltage requirement are identical across the IC5100 production run, so one cell SKU covers both designations.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the IC5100 boot sequence and simulated transaction loads — including receipt printer motor draw and wireless communication bursts. The BMS held stable across all draws without triggering an overcurrent cutoff.
  • First deployment cycle: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle before taking the terminal into a live environment. The IC5100 maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator accurately.

Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap

The IC5100 runs a PCI security boot check on startup that includes a power-integrity test. A freshly installed cell sometimes hasn't completed the BMS handshake the terminal expects, so the boot sequence stalls or loops. This isn't a faulty battery — it's the terminal waiting for the BMS to confirm cell status. Connect the terminal to the charger, allow a full charge cycle to complete, then power on without the charger connected.

Terminal rebooting mid-transaction during receipt printing

Receipt printer motors create a sharp current spike at the moment paper starts feeding. On a degraded original battery, that spike can push the draw past the BMS overcurrent threshold, triggering an immediate shutdown and reboot. A new cell with full capacity handles the combined load of display, wireless, and printer motor without hitting that limit. If reboots continue after fitting this battery, check that the terminal firmware is current — older firmware versions have lower BMS trip thresholds that a firmware update corrects.

Frequently Asked Questions

The IC5100 won't power on at all after sitting in a drawer for a few months — is the battery dead?

Extended storage without charging causes the cell to self-discharge below the IC5100's minimum recovery voltage, around 2.5V per cell. At that point the terminal's BMS blocks power delivery as a protection measure and the device shows no signs of life. Connect the terminal to its charger and leave it for at least 30–60 minutes before attempting to power on — the charger applies a low-current trickle to bring the cell back above the recovery threshold. If the charge indicator still shows nothing after an hour, the original cell has likely failed completely and this replacement is needed.

The charge indicator is stuck at 99% and hasn't moved since I installed the new battery — is the charging circuit faulty?

This is normal behaviour on a new cell during the first charge. The IC5100's charge IC enters a top-off conditioning mode when it detects a fresh Li-ion pack, holding near-full voltage longer than usual before logging 100%. The indicator catches up once the terminal completes a full discharge-to-charge cycle during normal use. Run through at least one complete transaction session on battery power, then recharge fully — the percentage display will track correctly from that point.

The IC5100 gets noticeably warm during heavy transaction periods — is that a battery problem?

Warmth during sustained use is a load issue, not a cell defect. The IC5100 draws simultaneously from the display, the wireless radio, and the printer — that combined current through a 7.4V cell generates heat, especially during back-to-back transactions. The battery itself runs within normal Li-ion operating range up to around 45°C. If the terminal feels hot rather than warm, or shuts down unexpectedly, check that the ventilation slots on the housing are clear and that the terminal isn't enclosed in a case or mount that traps heat.
