Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

NEWPOS NEW 6210 / NEW 7210 / NEW 7220 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (INR18650)
This 3.7V, 2600mAh Li-ion cell replaces the factory battery in the NEWPOS NEW 6210, NEW 7210, and NEW 7220 payment terminals. It restores wireless operation and keeps the terminal running during power interruptions. Capacity is 9.62Wh — matching the original cell specification.
- NEW 6210, 7210, and 7220 compatibility: All three terminals share the same INR18650 cell format, 3.7V voltage rail, and BMS handshake protocol. The connector pinout and cell dimensions (66.20 × 21.70 × 18.60mm) are identical across the range, so one cell fits all three models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on a NEWPOS terminal, confirming the BMS accepted the cell, charge IC transitioned correctly from bulk to top-off mode, and the terminal held its charge indicator without error flags.
- First-use calibration tip: After fitting, complete at least one full transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before deploying in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and needs one complete power cycle to display the charge indicator accurately.
Receipt printer current spike tripping the BMS mid-transaction
The thermal printer inside NEWPOS terminals draws a sharp current spike the moment it fires — this can hit two to three times the terminal's idle draw in under a millisecond. On a degraded or newly installed cell, the BMS can interpret that spike as an overcurrent fault and cut output instantly. The terminal reboots mid-sale, and the transaction is lost. A new cell with a healthy internal resistance handles the spike without triggering the overcurrent threshold. If reboots only happen during printing, the cell — not the printer — is the likely culprit.
Terminal will not power on after sitting unused in a drawer
Li-ion cells self-discharge at roughly 2–3% per month. A terminal left unused for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — at which point the BMS locks output to prevent damage. The terminal will not respond to the power button and may show no charging indication when plugged in. Connect the terminal to its charger and leave it for 30–60 minutes without pressing anything; most BMS circuits include a trickle pre-charge stage that recovers cells sitting above 1.5V. If the charge LED activates within that window, the cell is recovering — allow a full charge cycle before powering on.

Frequently Asked Questions
My NEWPOS terminal reboots every time it prints a receipt — is this a battery fault?
Yes, this points to the cell, not the printer. The thermal print head pulls a sharp current spike that a weakened or mismatched cell cannot supply cleanly, so the BMS trips an overcurrent cutoff and the terminal restarts. Replacing the INR18650 cell restores the current headroom the printer needs. After fitting the new cell, run a test transaction with a printed receipt to confirm the reboot stops.
The charge indicator on my NEWPOS terminal has been stuck at 99% since I fitted the new battery — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. When a new cell is installed, the charge IC enters a top-off mode and holds near-full voltage while it finishes the final charge stage — this can look like a frozen indicator for 30–60 minutes. The terminal's capacity mapping also resets on a new cell and takes one full boot-charge cycle to recalibrate. Run the terminal through a normal transaction cycle, let it drain slightly, then charge it fully — the indicator will track correctly after that first calibration pass.
The NEWPOS terminal gets noticeably warm during a busy transaction period — is the battery at risk?
Warmth during heavy use is expected. The terminal is simultaneously driving the display, wireless radio, and thermal printer, and that combined draw generates heat at both the cell and the charging circuit. The BMS monitors cell temperature and will reduce output before any damage threshold is reached. If the terminal feels hot to the touch rather than warm, check that the unit is not enclosed in a tight case that traps heat — allow airflow around the device during peak transaction periods.
