Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

VeriFone V400M Series — 3.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BPK475-001-01)
This 3.8V, 3000mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the original BPK475-001-01 in the VeriFone V400M, V400M Plus 4G, and M435-003-04-NAA-S payment terminals. It restores portable operation for merchants processing card transactions away from a fixed power source. Capacity is 11.4Wh — matching the original cell specification.
- V400M and V400M Plus 4G compatibility: Both models run the same 3.8V power rail, use the same connector pinout, and expect the same BMS handshake. A single cell covers both variants without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full boot sequences on the V400M, including receipt print jobs and contactless transaction loads. The BMS passed overcurrent checks and held voltage within spec across each test cycle.
- First-deployment tip for POS terminals: After installation, complete one full transaction cycle — including a receipt print — before deploying in a live environment. The terminal maps battery capacity during normal operation and requires at least one complete power cycle to calibrate the charge indicator correctly.
Terminal not completing PCI boot sequence after battery swap
The V400M runs a PCI-compliant security check during every boot. A new cell with an unrecognised BMS state can stall this sequence before the payment application loads. The terminal needs one full charge-and-boot cycle for the charge IC to accept the new cell's state-of-charge data. If the terminal hangs at the boot screen, connect it to the dock charger, let it reach full charge, then power cycle — it should complete the PCI sequence and reach the transaction screen normally.
Battery indicator stuck at 99% after the first charge
A new Li-Polymer cell enters top-off mode on its first charge cycle — the charge IC trickle-feeds the final percentage rather than cutting off cleanly at 100%. This is normal behaviour, not a fault with the battery or the terminal. The indicator will settle and read accurately once the cell completes its first full charge-discharge cycle. Run the terminal through one normal transaction session on battery, let it discharge to the low-battery warning, then recharge fully to reset the display.

Frequently Asked Questions
My V400M reboots in the middle of a sale — could the battery be causing this?
Yes. When the receipt printer motor fires, it pulls a short current spike that can trip the BMS overcurrent threshold on a degraded or freshly installed cell. We saw this on the bench when back-to-back print jobs were queued without a pause. On a new replacement cell, it typically settles after the first few transaction cycles once the BMS has logged normal load patterns. If it persists beyond the first day of use, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a loose connection amplifies voltage sag under print load.
The V400M was sitting in a drawer for a few months and now won't power on at all — is the battery dead?
Li-Polymer cells self-discharge over time, and a terminal left unused can drop below the recovery threshold the BMS needs to allow a charge cycle to start. Connect the terminal to its dock charger and leave it for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power it on — most charge ICs will trickle-charge a deeply discharged cell back above the recovery floor before switching to normal charge mode. If the charge LED comes on at any point during that window, the cell is recovering. After a full charge completes, power the terminal on normally.
The V400M feels noticeably warm during a busy trading period — is that a battery issue or something else?
During heavy transaction periods, the terminal is running the display, the contactless reader, the 4G radio, and the printer simultaneously — that combined draw generates real heat across the whole unit, not just the battery. The cell itself contributes a small share of that warmth, which is expected under sustained load on a 3.8V Li-Polymer cell. As long as the terminal is not throttling transactions or shutting down, the temperature is within normal operating range. If the unit shuts off under load, check that the battery contacts are clean and the cell voltage at rest is at or above 3.6V.
